As a part of the Chief Technology Office, you will help the Bank's Technology division pioneer a new, DevOps focussed, future for the Bank. At the core of our new technology strategy is the concept of scalable, self-serve platforms, along with more modern ways of working. To build this vision we will need a wide range of skills over a sizable set of technologies!


As a DevOps Engineer you will be expected to take a major role in designing, building and supporting our new platforms, at times working alone but mostly as part of a wider delivery "squad". You will contribute across our stack, from our cloud platforms to the capabilities which make up our developer experience. Where technologies or ways of working are new/unknown to you, you will be expected to drive your own training using the facilities which will be made available. We will expect you to take a keen interest in developing our junior engineers and spreading our culture to the wider Technology teams. We expect you to have a good understanding of DevOps concepts with an aptitude to learn more.


You do not need to fit the following bill perfectly, however matching strongly to the profile will substantially improve your recruitment prospects.


Role Requirements



Minimum Criteria



Understanding and practical implementation of both CI and CD Good cloud automation awareness [AWS, GCP or Azure] with the ability to talk about the benefits Extensive experience with Linux based systems Ability to develop in one or more languages Previous use of git for source control

Desirable Criteria



Kubernetes production support Previous experience in Python Previous experience of Ansible and Terraform Understanding of observability and its implementation; knowledge of Prometheus and Grafana would be beneficial Understanding and ability to provide quality, automated testing as you develop Ability to design solutions independently Networking knowledge Understanding of data science concepts

Salary and Benefits Information


We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.



We offer a salary as follows:


Leeds circa 55,280 - 62,190



In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:


A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year. A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool. A 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits. 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits. National Security Vetting Process



Employment in this role will be subject to the National Security Vetting clearance process (and typically can take between 6 to 12 weeks post offer) and the passing of additional Bank security checks in accordance with the Bank policy.
