We have an opportunity for an experienced Power Electronics Design Engineer to join our established Research team, based in Edinburgh.
Thie role will contribute to the design and delivery of all electrical hardware, specifically power electronics and control/communications hardware in support of ENODA's aims to revolutionise grid distribution.

You'll spend your time:
Collaborating in the design of sophisticated power electronics concepts based on functional and non-functional requirements
Scoping and designing electronic hardware, including but not limited to, power electronics and control/communications
Using advanced simulation tools to produce high-fidelity models of electronic systems, in combination with electromagnetic and control systems
Advising on all aspects of electronic equipment design to meet project requirements using prototyping, simulation, verification & validation
Researching new converter technologies and topologies to enhance product performance, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transition into production

The key experience we're looking for:
Development experience designing high-speed power electronics, including advanced semiconductors like SiC and GaN, and dealing with the challenges of very high switching frequencies
Extensive experience with 3-phase converters, and familiarity with different converter topologies
Experience using MATLAB Simulink, SPICE or similar for systems design
MEng / MSc Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Physics or equivalent
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary environment
Min 5 years experience in industry (or academic research) fields related to electrical and power systems design, implementation and testing
The following would be advantageous:
Experience with soft-switching power electronics
Familiarity with symbolic math software like Mathematica
