Job Description

UBDS is a leading digital transformation partner to public and private sectors and we are looking for a Senior Power Platform Developer to join the team. This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced developer who possesses a deep passion for technology and innovation and is dedicated to delivering high-quality results at pace. You should be able to be flexible in your role, and be able to operate as both a Power Platform solution architect and technical lead, as you will take ownership for the technical design and responsibility for technical excellence in solutions. You will work closely with the client team, your UBDS team, and Microsoft to deliver cutting-edge solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving digital innovation on behalf of UBDS's clients and keeping up-to-date with the latest trends in technology and software development.

Responsibilities



Work with the client and UBDS to define technical requirements and assist Business Analyst colleagues in building user stories and tasks. Produce design documentation and present and iterate to customers and their governance boards - diplomatic and confident presenter who can defend technical design decisions to Design Authorities and design multiple options when required to overcome constraints. Implement / Build environments and solutions in Power Platform to best practice standards to meet Enterprise-level needs. Implement and consult on Power Platform best-practices, including usage of Power Platform Centre of Excellence Starter Kit and general Power Platform administration activities. Building strong working relationships, with the team, customers and third parties to enable successful product delivery. Applying development methodologies and tools, such as Agile, Scrum, KanBan, Waterfall, Prince2, supported by the Delivery Managers. Technical ownership to ensure solutions are delivered to budget and on time. Proactively responding to changes in scope and devise options to present to the client or delivery lead. Providing a great service to our managed service customers by supporting with prompt resolutions to their Power Platform issues. Coaching, mentoring, motivating and supervising team members. Developing thought leadership, best practices and technical frameworks for our internal IP and external marketing. Produce Design documentation and present and iterate to customers and their governance boards - diplomatic and confident presenter who can defend technical design decisions to Design Authorities and design multiple options when required to overcome constraints.

Requirements



Power Platform Solution architecture and engineering principles, with deep expertise in designing and developing: + - Responsive Canvas apps & scalable Model-Driven solutions. - Responsive, customisable websites in Power Pages using Liquid templates, Bootstrap, HTML/CSS with robust permissions model & authentication
- Complex Power Automate Cloud and RPA flows including best practice error handling, retry policies and monitoring
- AI enabled chatbots using Power Virtual Agents, including topic authoring and integrating with back-end services
Strong knowledge of designing and building data models and integrating with a variety of data sources including: + - Dataverse entity design, relationship modelling and security (Business Units, Teams, Row-level security) - Building custom connectors and working with REST/SOAP APIs and Azure functions
- Familiarity with Azure ecosystem including Azure Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus and Entra ID for SSO
- Understanding of SQL databases (Azure SQL, SQL Server)
Deep understanding of the Power Platform Centre of Excellence Toolkit, including setup & installation, usage and general Power Platform administration best practices. Creating and managing Power Platform CI/CD deployment pipelines to support best practice ALM including: + - Structuring solutions and layers, patching strategies - Environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod) and release gating
- Git workflows (feature branching, pull requests)
Confident in extending the functionality of Power Platform using C#, .Net, JavaScript/TypeScript to enable client-side logic. Able to lead on architecture and solution governance, transforming business requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions, including: + - Establishing naming conventions, environment strategy, security model - Cost management and licensing considerations (flow run capacity, Premium connectors)
Agile/iterative development methodology. Software design principles and best practice. Strong educational background and / or vocational Microsoft certifications such as: + - Power Platform App Maker Associate - Power Platform Developer Associate
- Power Platform Solution Architect Expert
- Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate
An effective communicator, negotiator and networker who can work with others to achieve outcomes across an organisation. Able to work in a self-directed manner, proactively seeking out areas that need attention, rather than being asked to look at specific problem areas. Outstanding problem-solving skills and a passion to solve hard problems. Robust character and determination to achieve goals and deliver outcomes. A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is preferable. Active in Power Platform user groups, forums, or GitHub contributions. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in developing Power Platform solutions is required.

Desirable:



Experience of design, implementation and custom development of Dynamics 365 solutions. Good understanding of AI fundamentals and experience of integrating Power Platform with AI services (Power Platform AI builder, OpenAI, Azure AI Services, etc.) to solve real-world business challenges.
