The energy transition needs deep technical insight, and at PSC we are driven to make a meaningful contribution. As a specialist consultancy to the energy industry, we apply practical expertise and independent thinking to the challenges of a rapidly changing power system.
Who We Are
PSC is an independent consultancy to the energy sector and has remained independent throughout a 30-year journey. With around 220 specialists globally and a growing presence in the UK and Europe, we balance international reach with a personal, connected culture.
You will work alongside recognised experts on projects that enable a more resilient, stable and renewable rich grid, with the space to influence how work is delivered. Flexibility, inclusion and balance guide how we work. Your career should support your life, not overwhelm it.
Our UK offices are in Newcastle and Edinburgh. You are welcome to work remotely or from either office. If you are based further away, we support occasional travel so you can still build strong in person links with the team.
As a privately owned company, our focus remains on our mission, our people and our clients. Decisions are guided by long-term thinking and a commitment to doing the right thing.

About the Role
This role sits at the heart of our Power Networks group. You will deliver studies that help clients understand how their systems behave under real world conditions and what this means for grid connections, operational performance and future development.
You will contribute technical depth across a range of studies while helping guide study approaches, supporting consultants in the team and bringing clear, practical insight to client discussions.
What You Will Do
Carry out and lead power system studies including load flow, short circuit, reactive capability, voltage and frequency stability and small signal analysis
Deliver power quality assessments including P28 flicker studies, G5/5 harmonic reviews, distortion assessments and filter design
Conduct transient overvoltage and insulation coordination studies including switching surge and lightning impulse analysis
Evaluate dynamic interactions between control systems and power network components
Perform EMT simulations in PSCAD for converter, battery and network interaction studies
Build and refine dynamic models in PowerFactory or PSSE, including model validation
Support protection coordination and arc flash energy studies
Produce clear, practical reports and present findings to clients
Collaborate with colleagues across other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
Provide coaching and review support for less experienced consultants
Contribute to proposals, scopes, estimates and wider business development
Promote quality, learning and consistent ways of working within the group
What You Bring
Strong understanding of power system analysis and grid connection studies
Hands on experience with PowerFactory, PSCAD and PSSE
Knowledge of harmonic analysis, power quality or EMT modelling is welcomed
Ability to explain complex behaviour clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Interest in mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative team
A proactive, thoughtful approach to problem solving
Good communication skills and comfort working with clients
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Chartered status is welcomed but not essential
At PSC we want work to enhance your life, not dominate it. You will have the freedom to manage your time while joining a team that values expertise, balance and genuine collaboration.
This is a chance to play a key role in a high value area of the energy transition while helping strengthen a growing capability in power quality and EMT studies.
