Purpose
UTAC's Powertrain testing department features a plethora of equipment for a wide variety of testing applications, including engine, vehicle and driveline systems. Delivering testing from legislative gaseous emissions on heavy duty vehicles, electronic drive unit battery simulators and also engine test and development. This range of equipment requires frequent maintenance, servicing, calibration and repair as required. The Senior Powertrain Facilities Technician has a critical role in ensuring both planned and reactive technical support is given in all aspects of the department.
Responsibilities

Perform scheduled calibration tasks on equipment and test cells.
Update, maintain and manage calibration records for all equipment.
Carry out planned servicing/maintenance activities on key equipment.
Perform reactive repairs on a variety of test equipment.
Assist with developing engineering solutions to day-to-day technical issues faced by the engineering team when adopting test equipment. Typically, this will involve liaising with supporting staff; engineers, supervisors and the leadership team on a technical level.Carrying out risk assessments & method statements.
Assist with other roles where required.
Building and maintaining relationships with key suppliers
Order parts and maintaining stock of critical items

Qualifications
Qualifications
City and Guild in Automotive or Engineering
HNC/HND an advantage, but time-served relevant experience is the overriding factor
Experience
Experience in a problem solving, practical role is a necessity
Test bed experience in an automotive testing environment
Experience supporting mechanical and electrical systems maintenance and calibration programmes.
Experience in delivering upgrade projects and systems installation would be beneficial
Experience of AVL Puma, Horiba STARS and/or Kratzer PATools test automation systems is desirable.
Experience and knowledge of ISO17025 calibration is desirable
Knowledge of calibration, instrumentation and measurement uncertainty.
