Job Description


ADAS, part of RSK Group, is seeking an experienced Senior / Principal Ecologist to specialise in the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain related work. This is a full-time, permanent position with the flexibility to be either fully home-based, office-based or mixed depending on your preference.

Applicants will need to be commutable to one of our offices in either the South West (Bristol), South Wales (Cardiff), Oxford, the Midlands (Wolverhampton), North (Wigan, Leeds) or Cambridge.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the Biodiversity Net Gain related work for the team
  • Developing the skill set of the team, providing training and learning opportunities
  • Championing ADAS with clients and seeking new Biodiversity Net Gain opportunities
  • Working as a team with our existing ecologists to ensure quality projects are delivered on time to our clients
  • Managing projects from inception to finalisation
  • Talking to our clients and providing solid technical advice
  • Undertaking other ecological work as needed, including surveys and the writing of technical reports including but not limited to, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Mitigation Strategies and protected species reports
Person Specification:
  • Ecology and Biodiversity Net Gain knowledge and experience
  • Graduate-level education in a relevant subject
  • CIEEM membership
  • Good experience of UK Habs
  • Experience of using the Defra Biodiversity Net Gain metric
  • Good working knowledge of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques, including protected species surveys and mitigation
  • Experience of managing projects and liaising effectively with clients
  • Excellent written communication skills and be able to produce accurate technical reports
  • A proactive attitude to managing your own time, finding solutions and ensuring that work is delivered on time and to the required standards
  • A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle and be commutable to one of our offices listed above
Salary and Benefits
  • \xc2\xa330,000 - \xc2\xa345,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
