Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Team is looking for a dedicated Storeperson to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our stores and yard. This role is crucial in supporting our UK-wide projects by managing materials, plant, tools, consumables, and PPE.

Key Responsibilities:

? Stock Control - Issue, receive, and maintain inventory of materials, tools, and equipment.

? Reporting - Monitor stock levels, provide detailed reports, and flag low inventory.

? Organisation - Catalogue stock, segregate materials, and manage safe disposal of redundant items.

? Support Operations - Ensure stock availability meets business needs across multiple sites.
What you'll be doing




To co-ordinate and manage plant & stock ensuring all administration procedures

are followed, and ensuring accurate stock management.

Regularly review supply alternatives to ensure best value is always achieved
Liaise with operational Staff to ensure materials required for site are arranged

and accessible in line with operational extended hours working

Unload & load delivery vehicles.
Check deliveries against advice notes and for quality, quantities & damage.
Liaise with suppliers on the replacement/return of faulty/damaged stock
Ordering and Issue of materials, PPE, consumables, etc.
Hiring, acceptance and off hiring of plant and equipment.
Management of the calibration of tools & equipment (inc Lifting)
Security of yard ensuring access is only permitted to authorised personnel.
Ensuring yard(s) and store is tidy at all times.
Take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions whilst at work.
Cooperate with BB in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety to enable the Company to carry out and enhance its legal duties and requirements.
Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all persons under your control.
Do not recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety and welfare.
Bring to the attention of your manager any perceived shortcomings in health and safety arrangements or situations that you consider to be serious or imminent danger to yourself or others.
Do not undertake any safety critical work activity or activity for which a specific competence is required, unless you have received the necessary training/instruction and/or assessment and hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work. Do not instruct others to undertake such work if they do not hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work.
Work collaboratively with Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Operational Staff and Support Functions
Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and governance


To demonstrate correct use and knowledge of the following

PPE
Fittings assembly
Pull-lifts
Tirfors
Blocks and Wiring Equipment
Bonds and slings
Clamps
Toggles
Hand tools
Protection systems - fall arrest
Permanent attachment
Demarcation
Lifting and lowering
Support the Project Team with development of a high-performance culture of one team
Talk positively and listen actively across the business and the people within it



Who we're looking for





The following qualities/experience are essential:

Full clean driving licence
Ability to work in a team
Good verbal and written communication skills
Able to undertake work in high pressure situations
Flexibility - Willing to travel and work across the UK
Responsibility - a strong attitude towards health and safety


The following qualities/experience are desirable:

Experience of working on a variety of construction project types.
Knowledge of the Power industry (is an advantage)
Valid Plant Tickets (will be an advantage)
Valid Telehandler licence
IT Skills - MS Outlook, MSP & MS Word, Excel
OHL Authorisations (will be an advantage)
