We're now looking for aSenior Product Designer to work on The Filter, the Guardian's new online home for trusted product reviews, recommendations and shopping guides for a fixed term contract of 9 months.


The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the overall design and experience strategy of The Filter, ensuring a delightful and intuitive user experience across all touchpoints. You'll play a key role in developing information architecture, site navigation, and visual design that not only provides value to users but also aligns with business goals.


About the Role




Lead the design of the Filter's user interface and experience, from wireframes to final visual design, ensuring consistency, usability, and aesthetic appeal across all pages. Develop and optimise site navigation and information architecture to ensure a smooth, intuitive experience that allows users to easily discover and interact with product recommendations. Work closely with researchers, UX/UI designers, product managers, engineers and product design leads to create meaningful, accessible designs that align with user needs and business goals Develop interactive prototypes and gather feedback from both users and key stakeholders to refine design concepts and improve journeys Help plan and lead creative workshops with team members as well as senior technical and editorial stakeholders Ensure that all product design aligns with the Guardian's own brand identity, Design System and voice, contributing to a cohesive brand experience whilst staying up to date on the latest product design trends.

About You




Demonstrable product design experience working across iOS, Android, and web platforms, including expertise in in tools like Figma, Sketch and Adobe Creative Cloud A keen interest in service journalism and its interface with e-commerce and an understanding of our existing market and the key markets we operate in. Strong foundation in graphic design principles, including typography, colour theory and visual hierarchy Able to engage in proactive, analytical and collaborative problem solving, driving positive impact by setting clear, measurable objectives Experience working in Agile and lean environments A commitment to fostering diversity in design, bringing varied perspectives and creativity to the role. Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationales to diverse stakeholders. Deep understanding of user-centred design principles with the ability to demonstrate their business value. A keen interest in journalism and a strong understanding of the media landscape.
