Founded in Leicestershire over 60 years ago, the company has seen significant growth in recent years, providing the opportunity to further expand our team.
The Role
We are looking for a Junior Product Engineer to join our R&D team and participate in the design and development of both new and existing products. This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience across the full product development lifecycle -- from concept through to production. You'll be working closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, gaining exposure to a wide range of engineering and manufacturing processes.
Main Duties
Participate in product design and prototyping under the guidance of the R&D team.
Create CAD models and technical drawings for production and assembly with guidance.
Prepare documentation, including BOMs and wiring diagrams with guidance.
Use in-house tools such as a laser cutter and 3D printer for prototyping.
Participate in the development and testing of LED lighting systems and control circuitry.
Work collaboratively with production, suppliers, and other internal teams.
Contribute to design reviews and help ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
What we offer
Direct mentorship from a Senior Engineer to support your career growth.
Support towards professional registration (IEng/CEng), including guidance and payment of professional membership fees.
Genuine hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle, from initial concept to manufacture.
A collaborative R&D environment where you can make a real impact on new and existing products.
What we're looking for
A degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering. Applications are also welcome from other engineering disciplines.
Experience with 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks, for creating parts, assemblies and technical drawings to BS 8888.
A practical, hands-on approach.
A genuine curiosity and a demonstrable ability to learn and apply new technical skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
An eye for detail and a logical, problem-solving mindset.
Exposure to manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, plastic fabrication or additive manufacturing is a plus.
