LOCATION: Office Base is either London or Glasgow. This is a hybrid role, and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 65,000 - 75,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Our mission in Authoring & Curation is to enable BBC editorial teams to reach audiences across the globe. We build and optimise the tools that power our digital landscape. Any BBC News or Sport content you've read online is created using our tools. Authoring & Curation is at the heart of the BBC's journey into a digital first future, harnessing the power of emerging technologies, user research and data analysis to ensure that BBC content creators will always have the tools to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving audience.

We're seeking an inspirational, technically capable Senior Product Manager to spearhead the next phase of our Curation Tooling, a cornerstone of strategic initiatives across the BBC Product Group. In this role, you will unite editorial, UX and engineering teams to guide our Curation products - transforming bold concepts into robust, scalable systems that empower thousands of colleagues and enhance the experience of millions. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Product Evolution: Champion the product vision, translating BBC wide strategic priorities into actionable product roadmaps.
  • Drive Scalable Product Design: Lead the product lifecycle with a focus on building scalable, user-centric solutions that can grow with the organisation and adapt to emerging technology.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, UX and editorial stakeholders to gather requirements, assess value, and prioritise initiatives that align with organisational goals.
  • Product Leadership: Leverage your product skills to make informed decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and communicate effectively across the multi-discipline team.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about trends in digital publishing, content management, and AI-assisted curation. Explore and test new technologies (e.g., automation and personalisation) that can enhance editorial impact at scale.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Proven experience in product management, ideally in editorial, content management, or internal tooling environments.
  • Skilled in prioritisation and value-driven decision-making, utilising data, user research and testing to analyse problems and balance editorial needs, technical constraints, and strategic goals.
  • Technical Fluency - the ability to engage confidently with engineering teams, understanding systems and workflows.
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully shaping and scaling complex products of which have been used by large numbers of users.
  • Demonstrable stakeholder engagement skills, able to communicate and engage diverse cross functional teams around a shared vision.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Background in digital media or public service broadcasting.
  • Understanding of AI-assisted editorial tools and automated content curation.
  • Awareness of emerging technology trends and how they apply to editorial product design.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Agile certification or formal product management training.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
The interview process will be two stages and held on MS Teams. The first stage will include a short presentation / scenario followed by the second interview where you'll demonstrate the required competencies through examples from your experience. Interviews will be held between the 23rd and 30th July 2025.
