Dynamic, family-owned company based in Worcestershire specialising in Military and Rail fabrication work. Due to growth and long-term project commitments, Transcal Engineering are seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join their expanding engineering team.
Key duties will be within the engineering department working on BOM's and project associated tasks, there will be an element of "hands on" involvement in production when reviewing and implementing changes, or dealing with production concerns.
DIMENSIONS
Understand engineering principles, tolerances, materials and specifications when processing customer technical drawings.
Understanding of fabrication techniques such as but not limited to - laser cutting, folding, welding, heat treatment, thread inserts, bonding, plating and painting.
Understanding limitations of machinery to 'make in house' vs sub-contract work.
Understanding of build sequence to generate production BOM's and route cards.
Generating production parts, assemblies, fixings and consumables withing ERP BOM's.
Provide Production Engineering input as required to future business opportunities / bids
Ensure the integrity of systems data, including MRP system is maintained to latest standards / versions, and is robust
Provide technical support to Production, and Inspection personnel, ensuring all queries are addressed in a timely order
Evaluation of 'Build' documentation, identifying opportunities for improvements and further requirements
Promote the planning and co-ordination of effective production and quality product(s)
Fully understand the client brief, design requirements, and production specification
Take an active role in the project management cycle of the manufacturing of the product
Manage Process Procedures and Work Instructions
As appropriate, interface with existing, and potential customers
Produce and maintain associated documentation, including Process Instructions, Test Instructions, and BOM's, as applicable
Utilising the business MRP system for costing of materials
Generating, analyse and process ECN requests and applications of non-conformances, technical concerns, Engineering Change Notification, FAIR's, and Concessions
Establish strategy and best practices, to compliment and ensure achievement of key business objectives and work specifically to meet performance goals and departmental objectives including KPI's
QUALIFICATIONS
Mechanical Degree or similar preferred.
Accredited in an applicable and equivalent engineering discipline
DESIRABLE
Experience of working within the guidelines of BS EN ISO 9001, 3834, EN 15085, predominantly welding and fabrication
Experience of working within Defence, Aerospace or Rail industries and application of Def-Stan / Mil-Std, and RIS
Knowledge of lean and six sigma methodologies
