The role of Senior Programme Manager [Operations and Performance]
We're seeking a Senior Programme Manager on a permanent basis to develop and deliver a programme of work in line with business requirements and customer expectations.
The programme should be undertaken in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to cost, time and quality in line with Corporate Governance; Company Standards and procedures.
This role will sit in the Route Operations team accountable to the Operations Director leading the newly formed Anglia Operations Strategy team.
The team includes project, programme & change related activities within Operations, including the 21st Century Operations programme putting Ops back at the heart of the railway and helping to deliver new processes, technology and development opportunities for our front line operational colleagues.
The person responsible will also need to be able to drive and understand performance, being dynamic in their approach to both maintaining and improving our train performance. The ideal candidate will have some experience of managing and leading a performance based project on a large scale.
We are looking for a proven leader with significant experience managing teams in complex, dynamic environments. This person needs the ability to influence decisions and foster cross-functional collaboration. This role is a member of our senior leadership team, reporting directly to our Route Strategy Director and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their people leadership, decision-making and influence particularly with other senior leaders, front-line teams and trade unions.
Please note that this role is a 12 month secondment/Fixed Term Contract position with the possibility of this becoming permanent. This role is based in London and the Anglia geography.

About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
Lead the programme team to deliver the business and customer objectives agreed, whilst reviewing and confirming compliance with appropriate company governance, standards and procedures.
Achieve the programme outturn and margins as agreed with the Programme Director / Executive lead.
Develop an appropriate strategy for the development and delivery of the programme work scope.
Identify priority opportunities within the programme and lead promotion and sharing of best practice between programmes.
Monitor planning so that it considers cross-programme requirements and supports the effective delivery of contracted obligations.
Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
Develop and manage the programme team, monitoring adequate resources available to deliver a flexible, competent, skilled and effective workforce at all times.
Contribute as a member of the programme organisations senior management team.
Lead compliance in corporate health, safety, quality and environment processes for the programme.
Implement relevant parts of the renewals plan.
Sponsor audit of programme and project documentation, activities, processes and systems. Lead the communication of key issues for the function.
Comply with the Investment Competence Framework.
Essential
Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.
Relevant experience in the successful management of major programmes of work in the construction and/or rail industries.
Strong commercial focus and financially astute.
Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles of Health & Safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice.
Excellent communication with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation.
Desirable
Knowledge of/experience in the UK railway industry.
Six Sigma Champion.
Successfully completed the Strategic Safety Management Course
