The Senior Project Director; directs and oversees the project portfolio within the engine/business unit, leads the delivery of large, complex projects providing leadership & strategic direction for areas of responsibility. The role oversees business activities across the portfolio & is accountable for KPIs & business outcomes for portfolio. Works closely with business unit leadership & is an integral member of the senior leadership team providing operational expertise, strategic planning & counsel to the leadership team. Leads, adapts & delivers the strategy & business plan for project portfolio working with leadership roles across the business to ensure adherence and consistency of policy, processes and procedures.



You'll be responsible for:


Provides leadership of the overall delivery of strategy, objectives & all projects in portfolio, in line with overall Mace strategy and priorities. Drives & implements strategies for area of responsibility, develops & adapts operational plans for portfolio. Ownership of the project portfolio planning & budgeting, business operational resource requirements, ensures compliance with Mace Group reporting cycles and establishing KPIs & OKDs (Objectives & Key Deliverables). Accountable for delivery of annual financial and operating targets for the project portfolio (including KPIs, OKDs & business outcomes), leads effective cost management, ensuring budgets are met and utilises data & analysis to drive continuous business improvements. Oversees & promotes effective relationships externally with all clients, suppliers, partners & internally across the engine/business unit & the wider business. Accountable for the overall performance & management of the projects in portfolio covering planning, design, construction, monitoring & commissioning to ensure the project is delivered on time, budget & specification. May manage large, complex projects (size & scale) with country &/or multi-country complexity, scope & impact. Builds & sustains an integrated, collaborative & high performance team/s that proactively anticipates & responds to the requirements of the organisation & key stakeholders. Typically manages large, complex team/s & project resources with country/multi-country scope & remit. Champions innovation & provides thought leadership across the project portfolio advocating new ideas, ways of working & efficiencies. Leads & implements strategies for service delivery championing a culture of good practice & continuous improvement. Collaborates & partners with others across the business & identifies and promotes cross selling opportunities within the wider Mace business, driving & promoting business development, including building & developing productive relationships across the business & with clients. Accountable for ensuring required leadership and capability is implemented to deliver the business ambition with robust resource planning and a talent pipeline matching business demand, to drive the Mace purpose, priorities and 2026 strategy. Member of engine senior leadership team, inputs into & influences project portfolio & strategic agenda in line with overall engine business strategy, direction & objectives. Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work. Demonstrates 'good organisation citizenship' by working in an enterprise-wide way. Champions & drives the strategic implementation of enterprise-wide (& engine/business unit) strategic priorities, initiatives & transformational change, providing enterprise-wide leadership. Leads project portfolio by example, setting & working by high standards, leads, guides & provides direction to business unit, ensures a high performing project portfolio & teams that meet & exceed KPIs Represents Mace & the business unit, manages & influences key C-Suite & senior external relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, supply chain and relevant government/regulatory bodies. Provides executive leadership and direction across the project portfolio & across the business, supporting and mentoring senior leaders including succession planning, onboarding, training and diversity planning. Promotes & champions the highest standards and adherence to Health, Safety & Wellbeing across portfolio. Provides thought leadership, industry expertise & expert counsel across the project portfolio to senior leadership teams including Engine Executive Board.

Highly advanced level of commercial awareness, consulting & strategic acumen. Highly advanced understanding of wider management principles and techniques
You'll also have:


Can lead transformation & change agendas for operational business areas Industry body practitioner/contributor/mentor e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICE, APM, (or equivalent). Leadership or Advisory role to an industry recognised professional body Strong track record of advanced leadership capabilities leading large complex projects with regional/global remit & integration of teams (or equivalent). Strong track record of achieving business growth & increasing profitability in multi-country business (or equivalent). Experience across more than one/several sectors at senior leadership levels Relevant professional training/accreditation (or equivalent)
