Job Description

Harry Barker Properties Ltd is an ambitious and fast-growing business working in the construction and civils industry predominantly in the North West.

We're looking for a capable, self-motivated and well-rounded to control & maintain all our internal business operations on and off site and assist and develop our company expansion and progression plans.

Key Responsibilities



Operations



Coordinate and direct other managers to ensure the efficient delivery and documentation of all live and future projects Liaise with clients, attend site meetings, manage schedules/programmes, resolve issues proactively and drive productivity Work alongside existing project managers and commercial manager to ensure successful project delivery and profitability Maintain internal systems and oversee general operations including plant, labour and material allocation Deal with any arising HR or employee issues Ensure compliance with H&S, CDM, and quality standards Lead internal management and pre-start meetings and monitor project performance, identifying issues for discussion, future workload, risks and opportunities

Business Development



You will be proactively generating new business for the company. You must identify potential new business opportunities and assist with tender preparation and securing the works. Identify and capitalise on new opportunities, partnerships, and strategies Be able to manage diverse events, necessitating occasional weekend working. Serve as one of the primary points of contact for enquiries, confidently representing HBP to stakeholders, businesses, and the public. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients Willing to travel across the North West and further if required

This is a varied role that would suit someone with a construction, contracts or project management background who's also excited by the idea of helping a family run business grow. You'll be self-directed, confident juggling multiple priorities and strongly collaborate with existing managers to deliver a positive, proactive, and progressive environment.

Essential Skills & Experience



Experience managing teams and construction projects Experience with successfully implementing change and new systems into a business Familiarity with contracts, site coordination and contractor negotiation Strong organisational and documentation skills Strong decision making and leadership skills Strong man management skills Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset Full UK driving licence Experience with bids and tender preparation Comfortable using digital tools to track data and manage workflow

Skills & Experience Required



Proven experience in a similar role within civils, groundworks, utilities, or general construction. Strong understanding of construction operations, plant, logistics, and methodology. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Knowledge of HSEQ legislation and best practice. Ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and site teams. Commercial awareness and ability to interpret programmes, drawings, and cost information. SMSTS, CSCS (Manager), First Aid preferred. Demonstrate confident, timely decision-making based on sound judgement, operational insight, and the best interests of the business. Ability to read & take off drawings Pricing capabilities and proficient in the use of Excel

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 60,000.00-68,000.00 per year
