Based in Manchester we are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager / IPT Lead on a permanent basis to join our developing projects team. The role of Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the coordination, cost control, customer interface, monitoring, reporting and overall management of Military contracts to achieve customer requirements in a timely and cost effective manner with profitable returns. Financial, schedule and communication management are the key responsibilities to achieving success in role. The Senior Project Manager involves coordinating and leading the team, reporting and appropriate escalation when required to the directors on any elements of the Project.

Duties and Responsibilities



- Leading the Projects team, monitoring the progression and reporting to the directors.

- Making key decisions within the business to allow smooth running of the project.

- Effectively liaise with customers (internal and external) at the inception of an enquiry and determine the technical and commercial requirements.

- Provide the necessary support and assistance to ensure estimates are produced in a detailed and accurate manners using EDM processes and practices. (Liaising with Sales)

- Drive adherence to Project Gateway milestones and invoicing within the department.

- Liaise and provide support to the customer throughout the life of the project (Supporting PMs & PE in meetings as required).

- Aim to deliver all projects within the department to the customers' requirements of quality, schedule, and cost.

- Capture and communicate the necessary information to enable engineering to undertake conceptual and detail design activity (providing the Design Manager with targets in Time & Cost)

- Execute all projects under your control with the due consideration for risk mitigation and fallback positions.

- Agreed spend on your projects by countersigning requisitions, challenge planning and purchasing as necessary.

- Create resource and spend profiles, against which budgets for all projects & monitor CTC 's accompanied by robust EAC forecasting

Key Requirements



- A relevant engineering / technical / project qualification.

- Proficient Project Life cycle management with demonstrable qualifications.

- Proven effective project engineering and planning experience.

- Highly developed and effective problem-solving, with technical skills.

- Proven experience with financial control, budget management and negotiation skills.

- The ability to articulate project and program reporting information.

- General mechanical & electrical knowledge would be preferred.

- Knowledge of reading mechanical / electrical drawings would be advantageous.

- Military experience with technical background is preferred.

- Prince 2 Certification would be advantageous.

- Ability to achieve UK security clearance is essential.

- Due to the nature of the client contract, candidates must be a UK national, no dual nationality will be permitted.

- Be willing to work at customer sites within the UK and overseas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 50,000.00-55,000.00 per year
