Ameresco provide Project Management and Project Consultancy Services incorporating all elements of a project lifecycle. As a business our reputation is important to us and therefore our ability to deliver projects safely, on time and to budget is key to our continuing success.
We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with strong project management backgrounds within the built environment to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for taking clients projects from the initial contract execution stage, through to detailed design, procurement, construction, acceptance testing, commissioning and handover.
A Senior Project Manager may work on a variety of client projects at any one time depending on the size and scope of the work. The role will lead a team, both direct reports and within a matrix environment to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programmes to ensure successful delivery. The candidate must be willing to travel across the UK and Europe, while based in our Central London office.
Key ResponsibilitiesAssume overall responsibility of delivering specific projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and aligned with their size and complexity. Lead and manage all aspects from initial planning through to design, procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover. Define, assemble and coordinate project resources whilst maintaining strict budget control to optimise costs and operational efficiency. Develop and oversee detailed project timelines, ensuring all activities are scheduled effectively. Track project deliverables using appropriate tools to maintain transparency and accountability. Provide regular updates and reports on project progress to all relevant stakeholders. Ensure that the project scope, objectives and key deliverables are clearly defined, budgeted, strategically planned to meet the client expectations and requirements outlined in the project brief. Ensure the all project activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, policies and procedures, ensuring operational integrity and adherence to legal obligations. Prioritise safety by strictly adhering to Health, Safety & Environmental regulations, policies and procedures to deliver project with zero accidents. Ensure that the contracted scope is delivered on schedule and within the approved budget whilst proactively managing change, mitigating risks, and maximising opportunities. Drive high standards of quality throughout the design, construction, and commissioning phases to meet industry best practices and project specifications. Ensure optimal utilisation of team resources, fostering collaboration and productivity to achieve project milestones efficiently. Promote and drive streamlined communication across project teams and stakeholders, facilitating clear workflows and collaborative decision making. Build strong client relationships by understanding their expectations, addressing concerns, and ensuring project success through proactive engagement. Oversee project administration tasks, ensuring proper documentation, record-keeping and adherence to operational best practices.

Supplementary ResponsibilitiesResponsible for line management duties, including planning and tracking resource utilisation to ensure team members meet their utilisation targets efficiently. Support bid development teams with input in relation to construction and programme sections of proposals & in the preparation of estimates / CAPEX. Mentoring and coaching the project team to implement best practice & improve project delivery. Perform other duties as required.

Minimum QualificationsMinimum 2:1 Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Engineering preferred) Experience of project management experience in energy efficiency and/or renewable energy within the built environment. Direct relevant & related experience will be considered in lieu of a specific degree qualification. Formal project management qualification is desirable. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of professionals is a must.

Additional Skills & Experience RequiredProject Management experience, having worked on large multimillion pound projects Project management of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects typically under the NEC or FIDIC form of contract Strong project management and organisational skills with a keen focus on meeting client objectives and successfully delivering projects whilst meeting or exceeding project expectations in relation to H&S, Quality, Cost & Time Good understanding of H&S within design and construction (including regulatory requirements) Good understanding of Quality Assurance/ Control, throughout the project lifecycle Project team leadership within a matrix organisation, lead on the building of office and site team to support allocated project. Time / schedule management & planning (working knowledge of Microsoft project / Primavera P6 is desirable) Risk management Change management Procurement, Contracts & negotiation Budgeting & cost control Project monitoring & reporting Good IT skills in relation to Word, PowerPoint and Excel and MS Project tools

They should demonstrate good organisational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work under pressure and drive task/project completion within deadlines.
