As Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for managing teams to deliver the Strategic Programmes and initially being responsible for The Port Authority Programme. The Senior Project Manager is responsible in ensuring that the Port's Project Management procedure is followed and is continually developed to ensure there is a process of continual improvement.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



Be the central point of contact for lead advisors/business unit leads and stakeholders for the development process. Work closely with project leaders/sponsors and project staff to develop objectives and project strategies. Programme and project planning, control, consenting and work packages. Lead projects and the project team from initiation to closure and handover to Business as usual. Mentoring of junior team members and project support to the wider business. Ensuring that the appropriate project team is in place to deliver success. Facilitate workshops and build the Business Case by defining clear scope, benefits, outcomes, RACI, controls and project plan. Preparation and development of design briefs, cost plans, commissions, and specifications for work packages for development works, including investigations, architectural, structural and marine engineering for design and construction. Working with the Procurement team for project execution. Preparing feasibility studies for projects, looking at options, costs, time, environmental impact, management of change and project risk assessments. Adhere to / champion the Port's financial, procurement and management policies. Project management of large construction projects and/or multiple complex projects and programmes (including high multimillion value projects). Ensuring that projects adhere to current standards including health and safety requirements. Manage full compliance with CDM obligations under various duty roles including preparation and maintenance of all relevant documentation records. Project Management support to all the Port's Divisions within clearly defined plans and communication. Build working relationships between teams to ensure flexible working practices across the Port. Foster a culture of development where 'experts' share their knowledge and develop others. Proactively seek to develop your skills in line with the role requirements and changes in technology. Assist with the development of strategic plans. Ensure that projects and programmes of work are managed to time and budget and that risk registers are developed and maintained. Other duties of a similar level as required.

RISK MANAGEMENT



Be alert to all possible safety risks, raising any concerns and reporting events through the Assurance Framework. Be familiar with and adhere to all relevant company Policies, Procedures and Local Work Instructions. Identify and manage business risks associated with projects.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline. Membership of an appropriate professional organisation. Proven project management experience at office and site level. Methodical approach with attention to detail. Excellent IT skills. Be able to analyse complex problems and critically evaluate solutions. Be able to visualise and explain technical solutions by tailoring the information to the level of the recipient. Strong decision-making skills but being aware of their technical limitations and knowing when to refer. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management at all levels. Be able to categorise, prioritise, plan, and implement effectively. Ensure that the project and programme plans are always communicated and understood by the project team and wider business. Be responsible for the budgets and work within agreed budgetary tolerances. Excellent interpersonal and team working skills. Have (or be willing to develop) a comprehensive understanding of best practice and current standards within building, engineering and marine works. Experience of change management and processes. 5 years plus experience delivering full lifecycle large scale projects and programmes. Significant experience managing multiple complex projects and programmes, with multimillion-pound budgets. Track record of managing teams to successfully deliver complex projects through strong leadership and line management capability. Demonstrate leading project management methodology and leadership. Experience running large scale projects using NEC contracts as the client. Good delegation and resource management skills.
