Balfour Beatty is at the forefront of delivering some of the UK's most complex and high-profile infrastructure schemes. We're currently recruiting an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Regional Civils team at Devonport Dockyard, a site of strategic national importance undergoing extensive redevelopment.

This is a rare opportunity to lead the delivery of multiple large-scale structural and civil engineering works in one of the UK's most secure and challenging environments. You'll play a critical leadership role, overseeing multidisciplinary teams, managing stakeholder interfaces, and ensuring successful delivery of technically complex construction packages to the highest standards.
What you'll be doing


As a Senior Project Manager you will:Lead end-to-end project delivery across major structures, including reinforced concrete, steelworks, marine civil engineering, and infrastructure interfaces Manage large-scale construction teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners across a live site Drive health, safety, and environmental performance in line with Balfour Beatty's "Zero Harm" principles Take ownership of project programmes, budgets, risk management, and reporting to senior stakeholders Collaborate closely with design teams, consultants, the client, and regulatory authorities Provide leadership, direction, and mentoring to project engineers and site teams Ensure quality, compliance, and performance benchmarks are consistently achieved.


Who we're looking for


You will have the following:

Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on complex infrastructure or structural engineering projects (marine, defence, or nuclear sectors advantageous) Strong technical background in heavy civils and structural construction, ideally including reinforced concrete and steel frame works Track record of managing large project teams and multi-disciplinary work packages Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Thorough understanding of construction legislation, CDM, and health & safety best practices Relevant site certifications: CSCS (Black Card), SMSTS, and First Aid.
