Summary
Working as part of the Operations team within AKI, leading on quality, ensuring the quality KPI's are met and CI goals achieved, overseeing a team of Shift Quality Controllers. Reporting to the Operations & SHEQ Director, ensuring the products we ship?to our customers meet our?customers'?expectations, through effective and efficient issue investigation and resolution; and supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of clear procedures which are reflected in our Quality Management System (QMS), Health and Safety Management System (OMS) & Environmental Management System (EMS).
Be an active member of the Operations Team, participating in management meetings and working with operation team peers to achieve quality related KPI targets and CI goals on a monthly basis.
Supporting new product introduction (NPI) and daily production quality management identifying the suitability of products against t customer specification.
Build and manage customer relationships, ensuring that we provide outstanding customer service at all times; owning, investigating and responding to customer queries and complaints in a timely manner and documenting progress using this appropriate tools.
Introduction and management of 5S in the key main areas of the business, Weld room, Assembly, QC, Technical, Maintenance and Toolroom. Working with the respective management team members to implement and enforce effective 5S solutions in each area.
Managing the customer service emails to ensure all customer enquiries for production related quality concerns are responded to within one working hour from receipt and resolved fully as quickly as is possible.
Owning quality?concerns?from cradle to grave; including, but not limited to monitoring, measurement and reporting of non-conformance performance; disposition; concession preparation and submission; designing rework methods; initiation of investigation, following this through to conclusion with the customer using the appropriate CCCR & 8D documentation.
Ensuring all components we receive from third parties meets our own quality?standards in line with QMSR081 inspection criteria, certification requirements and raising advisory notices to suppliers where issues arise.
Working with internal stakeholders, supporting the returns process, ensuring that all returns are validated and processed in line with Company RMA procedure, issuing credit notes where required and managing stock reallocation and or rework where appropriate.
Review and look to continuously improve current quality check procedures and ensure they are fit for purpose and are commercially efficient for the business.
Manage the internal audit program and take control of the internal auditors to ensure coverage of the key procedures during each calendar year. Ensure that all procedures during a calendar year are checked for adherence against the latest top level standards of ISO 13485 & ISO 9001. Generate and control the Audit schedule and ensure that all NCRS raised are closed out within a reasonable time frame. Manage the audit team effectively to ensure that audits are carried out on time and effectively.
Manage the inhouse 8D program to bring to fruition all live and outstanding 8D's. Manage & Support the 8D team leaders to bring their respective 8D projects to a successful close within a reasonable timeframe.
Promote continuous improvement within the team, identifying new ways of working that will boost process efficiencies and process approval first time.
Keep the relevant Quality registers up to date and accurate, include the customer concern matrix, re-work register, post-production scrap report, Audit schedule, NCR register and 8D register.
Line Manage the Quality Controller team, undertaking competency assessments, and managing absence cover, with the skills to step down into the controller role and basic aspects (ISIR's on OGP) of the Metrologist role during emergency periods to support the business.
Any other ad-hoc duty as required by the business, including supporting stock taking activities where required.

Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience of Production Quality Engineering in the manufacturing sector, preferably plastics.
Experience of working to an ISO accreditation and managing the associated QMS
Experience of undertaking internal audits to 9001 or 13485, or willingness to train
Detailed understanding and experience of applying six sigma principles tools for problem solving
Experience working in a fast paced environment with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
Process orientated, with an eye for detail
Experience of managing customer relations, including concessions....
Competent to read engineering drawings and measure components using metrological equipment
Excellent customer service skills, with evidence of how relationships with external customers have been built and maintained
Commercially savvy, making the right decision by balancing customer and business need
Computer literate, including MS?Windows/Office Products and MRP systems
Experience of undertaking root cause analysis on quality issues, and resolving them by putting corrective and preventative actions in place.
Experience of supporting the introduction of new business and engineering changes into production from a Quality perspective
Full UK driving license required to attend customer sites.

Previous experience of working to ISO13485
Experience of?WinMan?(ERP) and ALS(Production Monitoring) systems
Experienced internal auditor to 9001 or 13485
Member of ASQ or CQI
Hold an engineering qualification such as HNC, HND or BEng
