Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Location: Hinkley Point Reporting to: Commercial Lead & Project Lead About the Client:

My client is a company with 20 years of experience in the curtain walling industry. They specialise in the design, manufacture, and installation of architectural glazing systems and cladding. They work closely with partners such as Sch\xc3\xbcco and Reynaers to provide aluminium systems to it\'s clients and partners Role Overview:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor assigned to Hinkley Point, reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager/Project Lead, your role is pivotal in managing, controlling, and coordinating all post-tender and site-based commercial operations. The primary objective is to ensure that projects are executed in accordance with the contract, budget, and programme, exceeding profitability forecasts and facilitating the timely recovery of change/costs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Monthly valuation of projects and preparation/agreement of interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Assessing and pricing variations/changes to contract works promptly in accordance with NEC contract requirements.
  • Assessing and notifying any delays/increased costs, compensation events, or early warning notices under the NEC. Ensuring their timely notification and agreement under the NEC Contract, including any Delay Analysis Reports and Monthly Deliverables/Reports as required under the Contract.
  • Working closely with the Project Lead and Project Planner to ensure Programme changes/delays and updates are administered and notified in accordance with the NEC contract using the required software (Primavera V6 or similar).
  • Working closely with Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Design Office, and Production to assist in the project being delivered on time and within budget.
  • Updating and maintaining any Project Risk Registers in conjunction with the site Team.
  • Preparation, submission, and agreement of any cost claims against main contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Re-measuring and comparing tender drawings to actual construction drawings.
  • Preparing and procuring sub-contract orders.
  • Following up due and overdue payments and taking necessary action.
  • Checking subcontractor Applications/invoices for authorization and ensuring all costs are managed and recovered where applicable.
  • Monthly reporting on projected cash flow, project margins, applications raised, payments received, and costs to completion.
  • Attend monthly \'cost control\' meetings and prepare reports to ensure projects are progressing to budget forecasts and profit projections.
  • Ensure that company procedures are being followed.
  • Negotiation of Contract terms and conditions with Subcontractors.
  • Support Accounts in the collection of cash and outstanding retentions.
  • Report to the Directors on all matters pertaining to the commercial performance of the project.
  • Supporting and coordinating any legal claims with outside lawyers/insurers and the like.
  • Work closely with the FD and finance department in providing reports and updates in terms of Cashflow, WIP, margins, Application values, cost projections, and monthly accounts.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Liaising with the Main Contractors\xe2\x80\x99 Quantity Surveyors to create a good working relationship and attending meetings on-site as required.
  • Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement of processes involving the QS and Contracts Departments.
  • Acting as an ambassador/exemplar of the Company and embracing/supporting/promoting the Company culture and values.
  • To comply with any objectives/targets/KPIs given.
  • To comply with all Company policies, including Health & Safety and Environmental/Sustainability Policies.
  • Assist with procurement issues arising out of specification or contractual queries and assisting the Drawing Office with queries regarding contract design and specification.
  • Any other duties relevant to the role or as determined by the Manager.
Training & Development:
  • Managing and supporting the wider site team and mentoring members of the Contracts and Quantity Surveying teams in their personal development if required.
  • Attending any internal/external training courses relevant to the role or as required by the Company.
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Excellent Knowledge of NEC Contracts and Administration.
  • Proven track record of working on large NEC contracts (Public/Gov or Private).
  • High degree of initiative.
  • High level of leadership and management skills.
  • Technical experience and knowledge.
  • Strong Commercial and financial ability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Quantity Surveying background essential.
  • QS Degree qualified preferable.
