- Britain's new high speed railway. Their work is essential to enable HS2 trains to travel between London and Birmingham. It's an incredibly exciting time to join them - they're at peak construction with work really ramping up on a broad range of assets including bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Plus you'd join 9,000 people across 72 nationalities working on this exciting section of HS2 across the region.
The client currently has an exciting opportunity for a
Senior Quantity Surveyor
to join them within the
Commercial team
. This role will be based on site in
Birmingham, West Midlands.
Role Responsibilities:
Tasked with initiating and leading tasks and processes, taking ownership and being accountable, where relevant, for the work and roles of others whilst exercising broad autonomy and judgement within broad parameters in their area of governance
Liasing to a Project Manager or Commercial Manager for relevant commercial aspects of a section of a project
Ensure that their commercial position is protected using in depth understanding and experience of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes
Some ownership for effective client relationship management to encourage smooth commercial progression of the contract(s)
Expected to manage and provide development and support to other commercial team members
Demonstrates and maintains a high level of commercial and technical knowledge and works closely with the delivery team to develop techniques and solutions to meet business and customer needs
Prepare subcontract invitations to tender and evaluate tender returns and make recommendations to appoint and places subcontracts accurately and on time
Experienced required:
BSc or MSc
in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent.
NEC
contract experience.
Experience working on a large infrastructure project.
Experience on a
civil engineering
project.
Membership of
RICS, ICES or CIOB
.

In the Midlands, it is the client's role to design and build the route, ready for tracks and signalling to be installed. They have been awarded a section of the HS2 project.
