About the role



This is an exciting opportunity to join Balfour Beatty's team that has been selected as a construction partner for the Rolls Royce expansion work in Raynesway, Derby, needed to meet the growth in demand from the MOD and as a result of the AUKUS agreement. As part of this programme of works, which will be executed in stages over the next eight years, Balfour Beatty will deliver infrastructure enabling works, build new manufacturing and office facilities, and redevelop existing industrial buildings on the site.



As a

Senior Quantity Surveyor,

you will take the lead in delivering a package of works providing management of a multi-disciplinary team comprising Site Engineers, Assistant Engineers & Foremen.

What you'll be doing



We are looking for a experienced QS who has a track record in managing all costs and income within their area of responsibility. They will be responsible for the Commercial


Management of various elements of the Expansion of an Existing Building (PCO


Expansion Task Order) on the Rolls Royce Non-fissile Programme of works.


Typically, they will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. They will


have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as


well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. They


will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD)



Governance



Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company's governance
requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities.

Commercial Management and Administration

Orders information and systematically checks data Prepares Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules & analyses tender
documents

Critically appraises, estimates and negotiates with subcontractors Reviews complex contract programmes such as Time-Location, Assists with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes Monitors subcontract activities, measure and respond appropriately Cost Forecasting and contract cost control. Advising and contractual matters and formulating correspondence. Prepares Internal reports, commercial progress and financial reconciliation and
report to senior project staff.

Monitors Performance Indicators (KPI's).

Customer/Change Management



Understanding of the Customer Contract and undertakes customer and
stakeholder management


Analyses rates & prices, agreement of compensation events as required Prepares, submits and negotiates claims when required Manages commercial aspects with Customer and Stakeholders for their area of
responsibility

Procurement



Undertakes constructability analyses using construction programmes. Prepares procurement programme and helps develop the strategy.

Development, Recruitment and Retention



Supports the recruitment, supervision and development of team members Maintains own Personal Development Plan

Who we're looking for



BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or working towards them CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person) Experience working on Cost Reimbursable Contracts, preferably NEC 4

Option E.
SC Security clearance preferable, minimum of BPSS. Experience working on Build projects. Utilisation of Commercial Administration Software. Ideally experience of Commercial Management on Civil Engineering and

Infrastructure projects
