Ridgeway & Co are proud to be working with one of the UK's most dynamic development and construction consultancies as they look to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-profile and complex commercial developments, acting as the lead commercial expert from pre-contract through to final account.
You will be joining a forward-thinking and collaborative environment where innovation, rigour and client-focus are paramount. As a Senior QS, you will be responsible for delivering robust cost management, mentoring junior team members, and acting as a trusted advisor to the client.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the commercial lead across multiple high-value projects.
Manage cost planning, measurement, benchmarking and cash flow forecasting.
Oversee interim payments, change control, tender preparation and contract negotiation.
Serve as the main client liaison, providing detailed monthly reports and project updates.
Lead the commercial response to contractor claims, variations, and final accounts.
Mentor and line-manage junior QS team members, supporting their APC progression.
Prepare and deliver high-quality client presentations and progress updates.
Engage with the supply chain and contribute to cost benchmarking.
Support CRM activities and contribute to business development opportunities.
Proactively identify project risks and communicate them to senior leadership.
About You
MRICS or equivalent chartered status (essential).
Minimum 7+ years of relevant quantity surveying experience (preferably client-side or consultancy).
Proven track record delivering complex commercial or mixed-use developments.
Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
Technically sound with a deep understanding of construction technology and contract law.
Confident communicator with excellent presentation and client-facing skills.
Leadership experience with ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
