An exciting opportunity is available for a talented researcher to join the large and successful School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton. You will join a multidisciplinary team who are developing a communication guide delivered by physiotherapists to improve self-management support for older people living with multiple long-term conditions and their carers in the home setting.

The work will involve conducting qualitative research (observations of physiotherapy practice, interviews with patients and carers, focus groups with physiotherapists) to explore their experiences of self-management support, stakeholder workshops to co-produce the intervention, and initial evaluation in practice. This will involve gaining ethical approvals, recruiting participants, conducting the qualitative work, analysing qualitative data, writing it up for publication. The work would include working with PPI and working with a multidisciplinary team.

You will need experience of qualitative research and a good understanding of social science applied health research. You will need to be able to work independently and efficiently in a research context, and will have excellent written English skills with meticulous attention to detail.
