About the role

This role is part of the UK Data Service (UKDS) Census team. The UKDS is a major investment by ESRC, starting in its current form in 2012, and currently funded until March 2030. It is the principal repository for economic, population, and social research data in the UK. As hosts of the largest trusted digital archive of its kind, our expertise in the collection, preservation, and dissemination of quality data is the culmination of nearly sixty years of sustained investment by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in the UK's research data infrastructure.





This role will continue and further develop the work of Dr Vassilis Routsis, as a member of the UK DS Census team. The Census team facilitate access to and provide related training for data from UK censuses, with the portfolio currently incorporating census data from 1961 to 2022.


About you

You will have a PhD in a social science or humanities discipline which primarily uses quantitative and/or computational methods. You will also have experience in using, and a strong understanding of, contemporary census / population data from the UK, preferably with some experience of user support.



You will be confident in programming in a number of languages related to web delivery of data, such as Python, PHP, JavaScript, and of data querying with SQL. Ideally you will have experience in API development.
