Job Purpose



As Senior MRI Research Radiographer you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the MR & PET-MR imaging suites at our state-of-the-art clinical trial imaging clinic adjacent to Hammersmith Hospital in West London.


Working within a small, supportive team of Radiographers forming part of our Clinical Operations group, your brief will be comprehensive, supporting the cross-section of activities necessary to deliver effective Imaging/Experimental Medicine Studies.


Strongly self-motivated and comfortable working flexibly across a Monday-Friday scanning schedule, you can expect excellent support for your development, including cross-training on the relevant equipment as required.


Key Accountabilities



Operations



Safely and efficiently performing MRI & PET-MR scans in compliance with ICH/GCP guidelines, ensuring high standards of patient care are maintained at all times and that high quality data is produced in a timely and cost-effective manner. Identifying equipment problems, raising maintenance tickets, supervising engineers and escalating issues as appropriate. Maintaining full records relating to MRI & PET-MR suite operations, particularly study procedures and equipment maintenance. Ensuring adequate stocks of the consumables necessary for routine operation of the MRI & PET-MR scanning suites are maintained.

Quality Assurance



Upholding rigorous quality assurance practices and maintaining quality control procedures regulating scanner usage and that of ancillary equipment. Preparing, maintaining and reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other documentation relating to MRI and control documents on the Quality Management System (QMS). Completing and reviewing MRI & PET-MR quality assurance-related actions (including deviations, change controls, self-audit, etc.) in a timely manner and in compliance with company policies and SOPs. Participating in the completion of internal and external audits.

Professional Development



Maintaining competence in the use of current and new technical equipment used in the scanning suite. Maintaining clinical knowledge and competence to deal with medical emergencies including proficiency in Intermediate/Basic Life Support and in patient handling techniques. Remaining up to date with changes in the regulatory environment impacting operations. If not already, participating in training to become competent in PET-MR scanning

Professional/Scientific Leadership



Reviewing study protocols from both a practical and technical perspective. Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement - in clinical and business practices - in the MRI & PET-MR area Maintaining an up-to-date awareness of the short- and medium-term imaging strategy, providing input into the resourcing requirements for MRI & PET-MR and contributing ideas for new business opportunities.

Training



Supporting external staff in addressing training requirements relating to the MRI & PET-MR area. Conducting competency assessments and assisting with training of new MRI Operators & PET Technicians Providing MRI safety training for internal staff and external collaborators.

Able to lead the team in the absence of the Lead MRI Radiographer. Adaptable, able to embrace change and bring forward ideas for continuous improvement in efficiency and in relation to the patient experience. Enthusiastic towards CPD and self-development, proactively maintains a contemporary knowledge of developments in research technology in MR. Competent with common business software (MS Office suite, etc.) and willing to learn new software packages as needed.

Experience, Education and Certifications



Bachelor's degree in Radiography or equivalent. Registered radiographer with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). A minimum of 3 years' experience in MR scanning, including - preferably - at Advanced Practitioner (or equivalent) level. Experience working within a clinical research environment would be highly desirable. Functional MRI (fMRI) expertise would be advantageous, as would prior exposure to spectroscopy and experience in cardio- and neurological diagnostics. * English: fluent
