To effectively deliver the main responsibilities within the Senior RSW role. Ensuring effective service delivery with a view to supporting the positive development of the children/young people, staff, service and company.
To be part of a team offering a comprehensive, high quality residential service to children and young people in our Children's home in Hadleigh, Suffolk. The aim being to ensure the physical, social and emotional well-being of the children/young people are met and to assist in their positive holistic development and resilience.
Responsibilities
To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children & young people.
To report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions.
Effective personal practice and effective management of a team.
To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
To ensure the ongoing assessment of children and young people's needs in day-to-day practice.
Ensure all staff practice is in line with best practice and the children and young people's Care and Placement Plans.
Continuously and unconditionally promote the structure, boundaries and routines within a safe and nurturing environment.
Be responsibility for the effective and efficient running of shifts
Provide a positive role model for the young people
Ensure the delivery of all key worker areas and responsibilities including delivery of direct work.
To work as part of a team and support less experienced staff in the work and operation of the home in conjunction with the organisation's policies and procedures
Represent the home at reviews and or meetings.
Undertake relevant training programmes as required by governing regulation, guidance, and the Company.
At all times promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practices.
Work in partnership and develop professional working relationships with colleagues, other agencies and professionals to meet the needs of young people and their families.
Fulfil sleep-in duties in accordance with the agreed rota.
To carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required including deputising in the absence of senior colleagues.
Qualifications and professional memberships
Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England)
Skills
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children and their families.
Experience working with children in a children's home or residential service.
Familiarity with IT systems for record-keeping and communication purposes.
Ability to understand and implement care plans accurately.
A valid driving licence is preferred for transportation purposes.
Values and personal qualities
At least 22 years of age, (to meet Ofsted Regulations) and at least 4 years older than the oldest child accommodated in the home.
Effective recording and report writing skills, with the ability to maintain confidential records
An awareness of the concept of confidentiality and its implications
Able to act as an advocate for young people
Empathetic caring manner and ability to build trusting relationships with children and young people
Able to provide basic support for physical and emotional wellbeing of children and young people
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Specialist knowledge, skills and experience
An understanding of disability and autism spectrum conditions and the impact this diagnosis has on individuals.
Regulated Activity DBS Disclosure Certificate
Flexible approach to work, location, duties and hours - with the ability to work antisocial hours and shift work
