We have openings in two Children's Homes located in the LE5 Humberstone Area and the LE3 New Parks area. Our Children's Homes are Ofsted-regulated residential services that support children with needs relating to Learning Disabilities, Autism, and Emotional and Behavioural Disorders.

Purpose of the Role



As a

Senior Residential Support Worker

, you will play a key leadership role within the home, acting as a positive role model and taking charge of the shift. You will provide consistent, trauma-informed care and guide less experienced staff while supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Your leadership will help create a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment.

Key Responsibilities



Lead shifts confidently and ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the home. Provide emotional, behavioural, and practical support in line with each young person's care plan. Support and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and ensuring high standards of care. Build positive, trusting relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or abuse. Promote and maintain a safe, consistent, and structured environment through clear boundaries and routines. Use trauma-informed approaches to manage challenging behaviours and support emotional regulation. Act as a key worker and lead in developing individual plans and risk assessments. Assist with household tasks, personal care (if appropriate), and encourage independence and life skills. Support children in attending education, therapy, health appointments, and other key engagements. Plan and lead recreational, developmental, and therapeutic activities inside and outside the home. Ensure accurate documentation, including incident reporting, daily logs, and staff debriefs. Work closely with external professionals such as social workers, therapists, schools, and healthcare providers. Act as a strong advocate for the rights, safety, and well-being of the children. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and contribute to staff training and development. Take part in sleep-in duties, emergency cover, and be flexible to work across local homes if needed.

Essential Requirements



Minimum 12 months' experience working in a children's residential care setting. Experience in leading or supervising shifts is desirable. Sound knowledge of trauma-informed practice, safeguarding, and child development. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Ability to remain calm, assertive, and compassionate in challenging situations. NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce (or working towards Level 4). Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins. Flexibility to work within a 5-6 mile radius if required.
