Senior Risk & Compliance Specialist

with a global mindset to lead and sustain our ISO 27001 information security compliance programme and initiate the strategic development of our health and safety systems, in preparation for future ISO 45001 certification.

Job Overview




This is a global-facing role based in the UK, supporting audit readiness, risk control documentation, and compliance consistency across regions, including the UK, EU, APAC, and the United States. The ideal candidate will be a structured, proactive professional with strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills, and experience navigating both UK and international standards in compliance and safety.




Key Responsibilities



ISO 27001 Programme Leadership



Act as the global administrator and audit lead for ISO 27001 compliance across multiple locations. Maintain documentation libraries, track non-conformities, and ensure timely resolution of corrective actions. Partner with IT and Operations to coordinate internal control reviews and surveillance audits. Advise on updates relevant to UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and client/vendor security obligations in the UK and U.S.



Health & Safety Strategy (ISO 45001 Readiness)



Lead the buildout of Northland's global safety programme, aligning UK, EU, U.S., and APAC practices toward ISO 45001 standards. Conduct internal gap assessments, coordinate global policy development, and initiate cross-regional risk controls. Guide site-level teams on incident logging, corrective actions, and HSE (Health & Safety Executive) obligations. Ensure compliance with relevant U.S. safety standards including OSHA where applicable. Maintain HSE reporting, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and training programmes across regions.



Cross-Functional Risk & Compliance Management



Lead internal compliance meetings, maintain risk registers, and produce KPI reports for senior leadership. Support client audits, RFP responses, and security/safety assessments with robust documentation and global policy references. Liaise with regional offices to harmonise compliance practices and regulatory interpretations.



Required Qualifications



Right to work in the UK. Bachelor's degree in Compliance, Risk, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline. 5+ years of experience in compliance, risk management, or HSE roles within international organisations. Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 27001 and practical involvement in certification processes. Familiarity with UK and international workplace safety legislation (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, HSE standards, and OSHA). Strong cross-functional communication and documentation skills.



Preferred Qualifications



ISO 27001 Lead Auditor or Implementer certification. Experience designing or supporting ISO 45001 programme development or audits. Knowledge of EHS software platforms, ISMS tools, or compliance management systems. * Experience working in a multi-site or multinational context, ideally in technology or physical infrastructure sectors.
