Job Overview

We are seeking a senior commercial roofer with 10+ years cladding and membrane experience to

lead and grow a team of

industrial and commercial roofers

working on projects across the

Midlands & Warwickshire

. This role is ideal for someone looking to step away from sub-contracting, grow a team in a stable working environment close to home, and still be hands-on whilst benefitting from a balanced workload in a growing business.

Project Surveying & Planning

Carry out detailed site surveys for commercial roofing projects. Assess existing roof structures, access requirements, and installation constraints. Produce accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and labour requirements. Identify potential risks, design considerations, and programme impacts.

Project Management

Take full ownership of roofing projects from pre-construction through to completion. Plan works and manage programmes. Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Monitor progress, resolve site issues, and ensure deadlines are met. Maintain accurate project records, reports, and handover documentation.

Team Leadership & Supervision

Lead, motivate, and manage a growing 2-gang team of roofers. Allocate tasks and ensure operatives are working efficiently and safely. Provide on-site guidance, mentoring, and technical instruction. Conduct toolbox talks, site briefings, and daily start meetings.

Quality & Workmanship

Ensure all metal cladding and membrane roofing installations meet:

Manufacturer specifications. Contract requirements. Industry best practice. Inspect works throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure all finishing details are completed to optimal standards. Rectify defects and manage snagging to completion.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with HSE regulations, company policies, and site rules. Liaise with internal stakeholders to produce RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements). Enforce safe systems of work, including working at height procedures. Promote a strong safety culture and intervene where unsafe practices are identified. Ensure PPE, equipment, and plant are used correctly and maintained.

Skills & Experience - Essential

Extensive experience in commercial roofing, specifically:

Metal cladding systems. Single-ply and membrane roofing. Proven experience leading roofing teams on live sites. Strong knowledge of surveying and producing accurate BOMs. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent understanding of UK HSE regulations and working at height legislation. Ability to read drawings, specifications, and technical details. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

SSSTS or SMSTS qualification. NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Roofing Occupations (or equivalent). IPAF / PASMA / First Aid at Work. Experience working on industrial and large-scale commercial buildings.
