We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic room Leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for working with children. As a room Leader, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children while managing staff effectively. Your ability to communicate clearly and manage tasks efficiently will be essential in fostering a positive atmosphere.
Responsibilities
Room Supervision
To supervise and support their staff to provide a high standard of care
To monitor staff attendance and punctuality
Half termly supervision and staff observation
To assess the training needs of their team and request training
To ensure the planned provisions are in line with the EYFS and nursery curriculum, and meet the high standards of the setting
Working with Children
To ensure their team provides a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the Nursery.
To be a role model of good practice.
To assist with serving the children's meals; including preparing breakfast, fruit snacks and afternoon tea for the children, serving lunch, stacking the dishwasher, washing-up any extra dishes and generally clearing the kitchen after meals when the kitchen staff is absent.
Working in Partnership
To work in partnership with parents and carers, providing feedback through regular contact and meetings.
To handle low-level complaints, and escalate any complaints to Deputy Management as necessary.
To liaise and work with third-party professionals who are involved in the welfare and development of children within our care.
Hold room meetings to review progress and plan short-term and continuous provision
To oversee the creation and revision of children's learning plans
To mentor staff and induct new staff into their team
To regularly review the children's learning journeys and reports prior to publishing them to parents
Managing and organising in-room breaks and staff deployment
To accompany small groups of children on regular local outings, e.g. to the shops, park etc, and on our bigger trips via public or hired transportation.
To keywork a small group of children and ensure that their records, such as daily diaries and individual learning profiles, are kept up to date.
To be aware of vulnerable children within their group and provide updates to the Vulnerable Children Support Officer
To look upon the Nursery as a "whole", work alongside and support the Management Team and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind each project is fulfilled.
To carry out any other duties requested by the Management Team that may reasonably be expected from a Senior Practitioner and be prepared to help where needed.
To mentor, support and guide students on placement and volunteers assigned to their room.
Other Duties
To ensure the maintenance of adequate standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the nursery. This may include, but is not limited to, changing nappies/clothes and/or toilet training, cleansing equipment, sweeping/mopping floors, cleaning rooms, and generally ensuring that all areas of the nursery are kept clean and tidy.
To participate in staff training and annual assessments of progress.
To attend out of working hours activities including, but not limited to, training, monthly staff meetings, nursery graduation, and occasional social functions. Renumeration is made for time given.
To ensure that all policies/procedures and risk assessments are read, understood and adhered to by themselves and their staff
Qualifications
Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is highly desirable.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
A background in nursery settings or similar environments is preferred.
Ability to drive and manage transportation logistics if required.
A genuine passion for working with children and enhancing their development.
Relevant qualifications in childcare or early childhood education Level 3/4
GCSE Maths
GCSE English
