We are looking for a Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our friendly, forward thinking Pharmacy Team.
The Pharmacy Department has exciting development opportunities for enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding team of Pharmacy Assistants. You will have a friendly and approachable personality, be willing to work as part of a team and committed to providing the best possible service for patients.
You will need to be self-motivated with good communication & interpersonal skills. To qualify for this position, you will require NVQ L2 in pharmacy services or equivalent and good IT skills.
This is a full-time post and the post holder will be required to work weekends and Bank Holiday as part of a rota.

Main duties of the job

  • 4 months rotation in each of the following rotations, Dispensary Services and Distribution/Stores. Working closely with the section heads to assist in the safe, efficient running of each section including Audits, and quality improvement projects to ensure high and effective standards are maintained. This is a supervisory role where training and mentoring of Apprentice Technical Officers is required
  • Accurate dispensing of prescriptions, covering the Pharmacy hatch interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Pharmacy audits and training & supervision of apprentices
  • Carrying out daily stock checks in the hospitals 'out of hours drugs room using the Pharmacy robotic cabinet
  • To assist in the sorting and checking of all returned pharmaceuticals prior to recycling or disposal
  • Ward top up and the supply of medicines to wards and clinical areas
  • Processing of ward/department stock requests in accordance with GDP
  • Processing of community orders to offsite clinics
  • Receipting of Pharmacy orders
  • General housekeeping e.g. filing, replenishing sundries, loading the Pharmacy robot
