The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Senior Scrub Practitioner to join the team at OneWelbeck Orthopaedics & Neurology, supporting the launch of our new Minimally Invasive Procedure Suite. This state-of-the-art facility offers a new perspective on day-case minimally invasive procedures in the U.K., focusing on pain management injections, minor orthopaedic surgeries (e.g. Carpal Tunnel release, Dupuytren's Fasciectomy), and infusion therapies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside leading specialists across multiple disciplines as we embark on an exciting journey with significant personal and professional opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Act as an expert clinical resource within the Minimally Invasive Procedure Suite
Lead and coach the scrub team, leading by example, providing clinical leadership and enabling continuous development
Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the procedure room in accordance with the needs of the patient, consultants, and procedure, including assembling and ensuring the functionality of equipment, supplies, and instruments
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, company representatives, and consultants
Carry out scrub/assisting duties in line with policies and procedures, contributing to quality improvement and promoting evidence-based practice
Promote a patient-focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant healthcare professionals
Provide direct supervision, support, and training of staff to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective service to patients and users
Deliver expert, holistic perioperative care to patients and their relatives at the highest standard
Ensure safe and appropriate patient positioning according to procedural requirements
Manage equipment and supplies effectively, support the procedure suite team, and resolve issues as required
Ensure sterility and/or high-level disinfection of instruments and supplies in accordance with policy and procedure
Accurately manage tissue and other specimens in line with policy and procedures
Complete documentation accurately, legibly, and promptly, following all policies and procedures
Monitor, order, and use supplies economically in collaboration with consultants and suppliers, in support of cost containment
Proactively participate in delivering a cost-effective service by adjusting staffing levels to meet demand and assisting the Clinical Lead in managing resources within agreed parameters
Organise activities, equipment, supplies, and personnel to ensure effective and efficient case management.
Candidate Profile
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (essential) or Registered ODP with scrub training and HCPC registration (essential)
Minimum of 3 years' post-registration experience in a theatre or procedure suite setting (essential)
Current BLS certification (essential); ILS certification (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to independently problem-solve in clinical settings (essential)
Experience in Orthopaedic or Pain Management procedures (essential); senior scrub practitioner experience in a relevant field (desirable)
Experience in safe and effective intraoperative service across various specialities (desirable)
High levels of focus and engagement
