We are seeking an experienced, skilled and passionate Senior Service Manager who will support the Strategic Lead /Chief Social Work Officer to lead services within Children, Families and Justice Social Work. This role requires the post holder to deputise for the Chief Social Work Officer as required. The post provides an excellent opportunity to influence the organisation at a senior level and ensure that the unique role of social work is understood, valued and championed within the Council, Health and Social Care Partnership and with partner organisations. In addition, the post provides a unique opportunity to lead the social work profession along with the Chief Social Work Officer through key strategic and operational relationships.



As Senior Service Manager, you will ensure effective financial oversight and controls are in place to ensure best value for the Council. You will be responsible for performance management and quality assurance across Children, Families and Justice Social Work; focused on delivering agreed outcomes as outlined in our Strategic Plan. You will provide positive and compassionate value-based leadership to empower our workforce, to create a lasting difference for those they work with and their wider communities.



You will provide support and supervision to managers and other staff for whom the Strategic Lead/Chief Social Work Officer has responsibility, including coaching and mentoring as appropriate. As Depute Chief Social Work Officer you will be expected to undertake the Post Graduate Diploma - Chief Social Work Officer.

Skills & Experience Required

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of social work professionals to deliver high-quality services to our community. Develop and implement strategic plans to improve service delivery and outcomes for service users. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to promote integrated working and best practices. Provide expert advice and support to the council, elected members, staff, service users, and their families.

Essential Criteria:

A degree in Social Work or equivalent Social Work qualification. Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). Significant experience in a senior management role within social work. Strong leadership and management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
