Royal Surrey Cancer Centre is based within the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust Hospital. The unit was established in 1996, under the name of St Lukes Cancer Centre, and serves a population of approximately 1.2 million across Surrey and West Sussex. It is highly regarded for the excellent care it provides and for its work with the University of Surrey and major pharmaceutical companies in conducting vital research to support the development of new cancer treatments.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister to manage and run our second Oncology / Haematology inpatient unit called Wisley Ward.
Wisley Ward is a 24 bedded unit looking after patient who are undergoing Systematic anticancer treatment and experiencing complications due to this or the cancer itself.
We are looking for hard working, enthusiastic person with good communication and previous managerial skills to join our busy team and continue to lead them in an excellent way.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will deliver patient care on a daily basis. They should be expert in all areas of nursing care from patient's admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development. They have overall responsibility for day-to-day management of their clinical area and for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures maintaining associated records. They will manage, support and lead a team of nurses in the delivery of evidence based patient centered care, which is of a high standard. They will manage unit staff including appraisal, rotas, recruitment and selection and the supervision of learners. They will provide specialist advice to patients, relatives and members of the multi-disciplinary team. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, they will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources. They will lead the ward through the achieving excellence program and be a pivotal role model within their specialty upholding the trusts values and behaviors at all times.
