Senior Software Delivery Manager



As our Senior Software Delivery Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology across the DEA Group. Your primary responsibility will be identifying, scoping, and driving the successful development, delivery, and ongoing optimisation of RCHQ (our in-house software system) and other key technology initiatives that directly impact our network's performance and strategic objectives.

This is a high-profile role, reporting to the board and working closely with internal teams to build capacity for ongoing innovation and ensure our bespoke software is robust, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices for quality and security.

Key Responsibilities:



Strategic Software Lifecycle Leadership: Identify, scope, and champion the development and implementation lifecycle of RCHQ and other critical bespoke software projects across the RaH network, aligning them with overall business strategy. This includes managing discovery, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing enhancement. Technical & Economic Optimisation: Evaluate the current and ongoing technical and economic feasibility of RCHQ, ensuring the system evolves to meet the growing needs of the network and its performance is continually optimised. Software Project & Programme Execution & Accountability: Take ownership of the successful execution of projects and programmes, managing resources, timelines, and budgets effectively. Provide regular progress reports, data analysis, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and board regarding software delivery milestones and outcomes. Capacity Building & Innovation: Collaborate with internal teams to build expertise and capacity for future network implementations and foster a culture of continuous innovation specifically within our software development practices. Communication & Engagement: Lead communications around RCHQ's development and other key bespoke technology projects, ensuring transparency and alignment with strategic objectives. Team Leadership: Manage a small, agile team, providing guidance and support to achieve agreed-upon technical and commercial KPIs related to software delivery. Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks to project success and network performance, including technical, security, and operational risks. Operational Efficiency: Drive operational efficiencies through innovative software solutions, system improvements, and streamlined ways of working within the development and deployment processes.

About You:



You're a confident, technically fluent professional with a strong background in leading bespoke software development projects and programmes. You thrive in complex environments where understanding, influencing, and delivering across teams is essential, with a clear focus on the software development lifecycle.

You will bring:



Demonstrable expertise in managing the full software development lifecycle, preferably with experience in bespoke or in-house developed software. Experience in managing multiple concurrent project timelines, ensuring alignment, prioritisation, and on-time delivery across complex initiatives. Proven experience in software development leadership, technical consultancy, or architecture roles, ideally involving bespoke or operational platforms. A strong ability to audit existing platforms and make clear, actionable recommendations for software enhancements. Demonstrated success leading complex software system changes or rollouts within multi-site or franchise style businesses. Proven experience in leading teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance within a software development context. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to align technical detail to business priorities. A balanced mindset between strategy, delivery, and user adoption. Familiarity with systems integration, cloud platforms, security, and scalable software architecture. Relevant qualification in Agile, software project or programme management.

Desirable Experience:



Experience with ISO 27001. Knowledge of ISO 12207. Familiarity with Data Security and Protection Toolkit. Understanding of Cyber Essentials Experience with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles, particularly as they relate to software service management. Experience in contributing to or leading efforts to gain accreditation for bespoke software systems against recognised industry standards.
