As a skilled Senior Software Engineer, you'll bring your deep technical expertise to the table, driving technical development and delivery in key areas. You'll focus on solving complex challenges with your specialised knowledge taking ownership of critical tech delivery within your team.


This is a great opportunity to help us create a fully in-house developed gateway to SWIFT Scheme to evolve into a solution fit for the long-term future of Payments. In this role, you'll lead the way in shaping the direction of our software solutions, using your expertise to make impactful decisions and drive success. You'll collaborate closely with the team and product owner to ensure delivery excellence. What you'll do...



Design and develop robust backend services using Java (17+) and

Quarkus

in a

microservices

architecture. Build and maintain

containerized

applications using

Docker

and orchestrate deployments on

K8s

(Kubernetes). Integrate and lead

real-time data streams

using

Apache Kafka

and event-driven patterns. Work with

GCP

(Google Cloud Platform) services such as

Cloud Run

,

Pub/Sub

,

Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL)

, and implement

IAM

(Identity and Access Management) and security controls. Collaborate with

DevOps

teams to ensure

CI/CD pipelines

and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

using tools like

Terraform

. Write clean, maintainable, and

secure code

aligned with

banking standards

and

SWIFT CSP compliance

practices. Monitor and optimize application performance using

APM

(Application Performance Monitoring) tools such as

Prometheus

,

Grafana

,

Splunk

, and

Dynatrace

. Develop

UI components

using

React & TypeScript

, integrating with backend services. Implement

TDD

for backend services and

BDD

for functional and UI testing.

What you'll need...



Strong proficiency in

Java

with

Quarkus framework

. Expertise in

RESTful APIs, microservices architecture

, and

event-driven systems

using

Kafka

. Experience with

Kubernetes

and

Docker

for container orchestration. Solid understanding of

PostgreSQL

schema design and database layer orchestration. Familiarity with

GCP services

and

cloud-native development

. Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as

IDP, Harness, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI

. Experience in building UI using

React-based Interstellar framework

and

TypeScript

, including integration with backend interfaces and alignment to security protocols. Domain knowledge of SWIFT payment systems; development experience with SWIFT interfaces such as

AMH

(Alliance Messaging Hub) and

SAA

(SWIFT Alliance Access) is a plus.

It would be great if you also had any of the following...



Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools for automated provisioning.

Domain-Driven Design (DDD):

Ability to model complex business domains and implement modular architectures.

Performance Engineering:

Experience with JMeter, or other performance/load testing tools for high-volume transaction systems.

Security & Compliance:

Understanding of SWIFT CSP frameworks for secure application development.

AI & Automation:

Exposure to AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot, and automation frameworks for productivity.

Messaging & Integration:

Knowledge of Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub, and other messaging systems for event-driven architectures.

Continuous Improvement:

Experience in Agile/DevOps culture, including CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and release management.
