Meaning our real-time, data-driven approach enables us to price connected vehicle insurance and assess risk better than ever before, giving fleet owners the insights they need to improve safety. THE ROLE



You'll be a key technical contributor in our software engineering team. Closely collaborating with colleagues to develop thoughtful solutions and meaningful deliverables.

You'll take ownership of significant features and technical decisions within your areas of expertise, working together with talented engineers to build products that create real value for our customers and drive business growth.

A LITTLE MORE ON WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING



As a Senior Engineer at Flock, you'll take full ownership of problem-solving, from designing and developing elegant solutions to rolling them out and measuring their real-world impact. You'll work closely with fellow engineers to uphold high standards, foster shared understanding, and keep our codebase clean and maintainable.

Over time, you'll become a domain expert, growing your own expertise while mentoring others and raising the bar across the team. You'll collaborate with senior and staff engineers across squads, and partner with the Head of Architecture to help shape a platform that offers a world-class developer experience.

Working hand-in-hand with your product manager, you'll bring clarity to complex problems and help define sharply scoped, impactful deliverables. Your success won't be measured by output alone, but by the lasting impact you make on our customers and on the team around you.

WHAT YOU'll BRING TO FLOCK



ESSENTIAL

Constructive and thoughtful. You contribute new ideas while being receptive Ability to define and track success metrics in a product outcome-focused environment Experience working with distributed architectures. Familiarity with AWS managed services; we prioritise using these services to work more efficiently Comfortable with TypeScript and Python (with type hints) or a similar language. Experience beyond common frameworks and ORMs Thoughtful approach to testing; how it shapes code structure and enhances a serverless environment.

PREFERABLE

Awareness of various architectural approaches, especially within serverless environments and the benefits and limitations of Layered Architecture Understanding of how infrastructure and application layers work together to optimise your solutions. Knowledge of functional programming concepts SQS and EventBridge as transport services with an interest in stream processing and queue optimisation.
