SCP 41-44 - \xc2\xa347,573 - \xc2\xa350,780 pa.
Permanent/full time - 37 hours per week

About the Senior Solicitor role:

Sellick Partnership are recruiting for a Senior Solicitor to join an excellent Local Authority in South Wales. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and experienced solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive to lead its busy but friendly in-house litigation team.

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Managing a small team of legal staff, consisting of Legal Assistant through to Solicitor, as well as managing your own caseload of legal matters.
  • Existing knowledge of at least one of the below areas of law:
  • Civil and criminal litigation
  • Judicial and statutory review
  • Town and country planning
  • Employment law
  • Housing law
  • You may have gained such experience in local government, elsewhere in the public sector or in private practice. You might already have some supervisory experience, or it could be that this is your first senior role.
  • Positive, proactive and self-motivated, you will have excellent technical skills and a good level of experience in a number of the areas of work the team deals with.
  • In any event, you will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and demonstrate your aptitude for inspiring and motivating those working alongside you.
  • You will have a willingness to embrace change and, in time, develop your own ideas about how your team can function efficiently and effectively.
Key attributes of the Senior Solicitor include:

Local government legal work is varied and whilst at times it can be challenging, it is also frequently rewarding.

There will be times when you need to work under pressure and balance conflicting priorities, however, you will be supported in doing this. You will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to your own professional development and a willingness to undertake training and develop new skills as required.
