Role Overview
This full-time, remote position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced solicitor with a strong background in private client work and property transactions. The successful candidate will take on a leading role in the delivery of high-quality legal advice, documents to colleagues (not members of the public), support business compliance, and contribute to the ongoing growth of the practice.
You will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision, whilst also collaborating with our wider team of legal professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Advise on, manage a varied caseload of private client matters including wills, probate, estate administration, and most importantly lifetime trusts and will trusts.
Draft and review a range of legal instruments, including but not limited to lifetime trust deeds, deeds of variation and declaration of trust.
Oversee residential conveyancing matters, relating to settling residential properties into will and lifetime trusts.
Act as Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance in line with SRA standards, and working in close collaboration with the appointed COFA to uphold the high standards and expectations set out by the regulator.
Provide legal and regulatory input into business strategy and internal systems.
Support training and development where required.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
A minimum of
5 years PQE
in private client practice, ideally within wills, tax and estate planning and probate team.
Previous experience acting as a
COLP
or a strong understanding of SRA compliance and regulatory obligations.
Strong knowledge of trusts, particularly in relation to the creation, administration, and variation.
Expertise in legal drafting, especially of will and lifetime trust documentation and estate planning structures.
Ability to manage caseloads independently and efficiently, with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (UK).
Desirable:
Familiarity with case management systems and digital document platforms.
Licensed Conveyancer status
(CLC or equivalent), or dual-qualified solicitor with sufficient conveyancing experience to handle property transactions.
