Avonfield Kitchen is an award-winning and busy cafe based at an independent garden centre and plant nursery in Hilperton.

Since opening in 2018 we have already established a large customer base and see a consistently busy service throughout the week.

Serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and a selection of daily specials; everything on our menu is homemade and prepared fresh in-house, and we have an outstanding reputation for quality and consistency in everything we serve.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate chef to join our team in a Sous Chef / Lead Chef position. You will be working directly with our Head Chef and Executive Head Chef, running service and holding responsibility for your section on a daily basis.

You must be hardworking, dedicated, and have a genuine interest in food. We are passionate about what we do and work to a high level of standards, consistency, and efficiency, all of which would be expected of you in this role. If you have experience working in a similar busy cafe environment it would be a bonus, but is not essential. You will have full support in the role and on-the-job training can be provided for any areas where required.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:



Produce all dishes to the required standards of: - Quality*
- Consistency*
- Presentation*
- Portion control*
Ability to work quickly and efficiently Ability to multitask and maintain standards in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment Supervise and train kitchen staff where required Work with the Head Chef and kitchen team to supervise and assist with management of: - Food preparation*
- Kitchen cleaning and organisation*
- Food hygiene checks and compliance*
- Routine supplier orders*
- Inventory control*
- Stock rotation*

We are open 7-days-a-week all year round, apart from Christmas/ New Year where we close for a short break. Our opening hours are 9am - 4.30pm, there are no evening or late shifts, and no split shifts. So this is a great opportunity to work in a professional hospitality environment whilst maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
