to join our interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. This role focuses on providing high-quality assessment and intervention for individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI), while leading on speech and language therapy (SaLT) provision within the service.
You will collaborate closely with internal and external professionals, families, and service users to deliver holistic care and promote effective communication and swallowing rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
Apply evidence-based, person-centred approaches to assessment, goal-setting, and therapy planning.
Manage a caseload of individuals with complex communication, swallowing, and behavioural needs.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and formulate individualized rehabilitation and care plans.
Provide specialist input in communication and dysphagia management.
Produce accurate documentation, reports, and therapy records in line with professional standards.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management requirements.
Leadership
Lead SaLT service development and evaluation within the multidisciplinary team.
Collaborate effectively across professional boundaries and act as a clinical role model.
Contribute to service improvement, quality assurance, and clinical governance initiatives.
Research and Development
Participate in audit, research, and service evaluation projects.
Keep up to date with developments in speech and language therapy and neurorehabilitation.
Make evidence-based recommendations to improve service quality and outcomes.
Education and Learning
Support the training and development of colleagues, students, and carers.
Promote awareness and understanding of speech and language therapy across the team.
Engage actively in supervision and continuous professional development (CPD).
Requirements
Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Experience working with individuals with acquired brain injury or neurological conditions.
Strong leadership, communication, and clinical reasoning skills.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Information
The role may involve working with individuals who present with challenging behaviour.
Occasional travel between sites may be required.
Training in safe handling, safeguarding, and de-escalation techniques will be provided.
