What will you be doing?




We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong

steelwork

background to take on a senior role focused on

design management

and

project coordination

. This position centres on overseeing the

design process

rather than carrying out detailed technical calculations, ensuring that all

structural elements

are delivered to the required standards of

quality

,

safety

, and

cost-efficiency

.


In this role, you will act as a key link between

engineering teams

,

contractors

, and stakeholders, guiding design activities and ensuring that

steel components

are planned and executed in line with UK expectations and

regulatory requirements

.


Your main responsibilities will be:



Oversee and coordinate the full

design lifecycle

for

steel structures

. Manage communication between

designers

,

fabricators

,

contractors

, and internal teams. Review design proposals to ensure

safety

,

compliance

, and

cost-effective

solutions. Ensure design decisions consider

buildability

,

installation methods

, and

risk reduction

. Support

contract management

and monitor contractor performance. Lead

design reviews

, design checks, and approval processes for steel elements. Maintain

documentation

, design records, and compliance tracking.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required:



10+ years

in

steelwork

,

structural coordination

, or similar environments. Strong understanding of

steel element design

and structural integration. Ability to explain the

design process

clearly and logically. Experience in

contract management

or supporting contractual duties. Proven ability to balance

safety

,

quality

,

cost

, and

programme impacts

. Understanding of UK construction regulations with essential

CDM knowledge

.

Desirable skills:



Experience in

multi-discipline coordination

and design delivery. Strong background in

risk management

and design reviews. Exposure to

large infrastructure

or complex industrial environments.
