Serenity Home Services is a therapeutic children's home dedicated to supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours. We are currently seeking experienced
Senior Support Workers
to play a key role in the care, support, and development of the young people living in our home.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will lead by example in delivering high-quality care and guidance to both young people and your team. You will support the Home Manager in ensuring daily operations run smoothly, and that every child's emotional, physical, and developmental needs are met with compassion, consistency, and professionalism.
What We're Looking For:
Minimum 1 year of experience working with children or young people with EBD in a residential or youth work setting.
NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People (or equivalent) - essential.
A full UK driving licence.
A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Strong leadership qualities and a resilient, child-centred mindset.
Role Overview:
In this role, you'll take on additional responsibilities such as mentoring junior staff, acting as a key worker for allocated children, and ensuring care plans are followed and updated. You'll contribute to creating a therapeutic, structured home environment where children can feel safe, secure, and supported to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the day-to-day operations of the home in line with Ofsted standards and National Minimum Standards.
Lead shifts and guide team members in delivering consistent, high-quality care.
Build strong, supportive relationships with young people to help them feel safe, valued, and understood.
Be proactive in decision-making and problem-solving in the best interests of the children.
Act as a key worker and maintain accurate records, reports, and care plans.
Liaise with professionals, schools, families, and external agencies.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children through effective safeguarding practices.
Support the emotional development of the children through therapeutic approaches.
Assist in training, mentoring, and supporting junior staff as required.
