The Role
As a
Senior Support Worker
, you'll take a leading role in the daily life of the home -- guiding staff, supporting young people, and ensuring each day runs smoothly and with purpose. You'll act as a positive role model and mentor, helping children develop independence and resilience while creating a warm, therapeutic environment where they feel safe and valued.
You'll also have the opportunity to influence practice, support colleagues in their development, and help shape the future of our expanding service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage shifts to ensure the effective running of the home.
Supervise, mentor, and support residential staff in their day-to-day work.
Deputise for management when required and ensure compliance with all care standards.
Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people, promoting their safety, welfare, and development.
Contribute to care and placement plans, ensuring every child receives tailored, individualised support.
Work collaboratively with families, professionals, and external agencies.
Promote a safe, healthy, and well-maintained environment in line with Health & Safety procedures.
Participate in the rota system, including sleep-ins, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the service.
What We're Looking For
A compassionate, committed professional with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People (or equivalent)
- essential.
Experience working in residential childcare and leading shifts.
Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
A flexible approach and willingness to take on sleep-in duties.
A satisfactory
Enhanced DBS Check
(or willingness to obtain one).
Ability to undertake physical intervention where required (full training provided).
