If so, we at Fair Tree Group have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Support Worker for a Good rated home. We provide a loving and caring home for up to three children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

The home's current Senior Support Worker has progressed and is transitioning to become a deputy manager, which has led to a fantastic opportunity for the right person to step into the senior support worker role.

Job purpose



To be responsible to the deputy manager for the day-to-day running of the shifts within the home and for the delivery of day-to-day care to the children and young people.

To ensure that the teams are maintaining child-centred principles and providing direct care and safeguarding to the children and young people.

To assist in leading staff to operate within the legal parameters described in the companies' policies and procedures.

To support the children and young people's social development and well-being and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities



To lead shifts and ensure residential support staff practice safe and appropriate care practises and ensure they are maintained at all times.

To support the deputy manager and the home manager in all aspects of the operational management of the home.

To maintain the development of positive childcare practices in keeping with the aims and objectives of the home.

To provide a safe, caring, warm and supportive environment to our children and young people.

To be involved in the planning and organisation of the home.

To maintain a regular system of recording information in connection with each child or young person.

To be involved in the implementation of care plans.

To assist in the provision of reports when required.

To ensure when on shift that staff conduct themselves within the guidelines of the company's policies and procedures.

To assist with the processes of development, implementation and reviews within the home.

To delegate tasks to residential staff.

To coordinate the daily routine of the home.

To promote and maintain high standards of cleanliness.

To participate in the general activities of the home.

To use any personal skills, you may have to maximise opportunity for each child or young person.

To make outside contacts both individually and through various activities developed within and outside of the home.

To undertake delegated household duties.

To attend regular supervision sessions as required.

To deliver high standards of supervision to support staff.

To attend team meetings and training sessions as required.

To accept responsibility for such money as may be required in the carrying out of necessary duties.

To undertake sleeping-in duties as required.

To comply with the policies and procedures of the establishment.

To be available on an on-call basis to cover staff shortfalls and operational deficiencies.

To be part of the on-call rota

To deal with telephone enquiries and undertake administrative duties as required e.g. logbooks, daily logs, incident forms, handovers etc.

To maintain case file records.

Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the manager or deputy manager.

Responsibilities



To foster and encourage, wherever appropriate, contact between children and their families.

To maintain good liaison and co-operate with external agencies e.g. social workers.

To develop a responsible attitude with children and young people with regard to the fabric, furnishings, equipment, supplies and services in/out of the home.

To support children and young people in all domestic aspects of their personal space and the communal area of the home.

To demonstrate both sensitivity and appropriate assertiveness.

To work in a pressured environment with groups of diverse children, young people and staff.

To carry out the duties of the post in a mature and responsible manner, seeking and receiving support as necessary.

To physically intervene if a child or young person's behaviour is dangerous to others or themselves, in accordance with the procedural guidelines of the home and relevant legislation.

To participate in the construction and implementation of care plans on individual children and young peoples placed within the home.

Other requirements



Sleeping in/shift work, including evenings, bank holidays and weekends

Support the on call on a rota system.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 30,472.00-31,512.00 per year
