About the Role
Inclusive Care Support provides supported accommodation for young people aged
16-25
, mainly care leavers and young people who need structured support to build skills for adulthood. The service is about
preparing young people to live independently,
budgeting, education/employment, tenancy readiness, emotional wellbeing, boundaries, and day-to-day life skills, while keeping them safe and supported.
We are looking for a
high-calibre Senior Support Worker
who can lead shifts, mentor staff, and deliver consistent, person-centred support across our accommodation sites. This is a hands-on role where you will support young people directly while also helping to run the service day-to-day. You will work closely with the Registered Service Manager to keep standards high and the service inspection-ready.

supervisory or senior responsibility experience
in a similar setting (essential).
Shift & Availability Requirements (Full-time only)
This role is
full-time on a zero-hours contract
, minimum 40+ hours weekly.
All staff must be available
across weekdays and weekends
.
You must be able to complete
at least one night shift per week
(or two to three per month).
Day shifts:
usually start 8am-10am and finish 6pm-8pm.
Night shifts:
usually start 6pm-8pm and finish 8am-10am.
You may be asked to cover different sites, so
willingness to travel is required.
Main Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Service Management
To support the Registered Service Manager in the day-to-day running of supported accommodation placements, ensuring young people receive safe, consistent, and high-quality support.
To lead shifts confidently, allocate tasks, maintain a calm culture in the home, and ensure staff follow support plans and organisational procedures.
To act as the senior on duty and take responsibility for operational decisions when required, including in the absence of the Registered Service Manager.
To monitor service delivery standards, identify areas for improvement, and support the implementation of better systems and outcomes.
To ensure the service remains inspection-ready at all times, contributing to audits, monitoring, and compliance with Supported Accommodation Regulations 2023 and Ofsted guidance.
2. Supporting Young People (16-25)
To build professional, consistent relationships with young people that encourage trust, independence, and progress.
To deliver structured, person-centred support that helps young people develop skills for adulthood, including routines, education/employment goals, budgeting, tenancy readiness, and emotional regulation.
To act as a key worker where needed, supporting care-planning, goal setting, regular reviews, and multi-agency coordination.
To monitor wellbeing and behaviour, respond appropriately to risk, and act quickly in emergencies or safeguarding situations.
To support young people to engage in positive activities in the community and access services that reduce isolation and build resilience.
3. Staff Development & Supervision
To provide strong role-modelling and daily guidance to Support Workers so they deliver consistent, high-standard support.
To contribute to recruitment, induction, coaching, supervision and performance development of staff.
To help maintain a motivated, professional team culture that reflects Inclusive Care Support values and expectations.
4. Recording, Reporting & Communication
To ensure case notes, incident reports, risk information and support records are completed accurately and on time.
To contribute to support plans and reviews, ensuring the young person's voice and progress are clearly reflected.
To liaise confidently with social workers, local authorities, families, advocates, education providers, and other professionals.
To attend and contribute to meetings, handovers, staff briefings and multi-agency reviews when required.
5. Safeguarding & Compliance
To promote and safeguard the welfare of young people at all times, following ICS safeguarding policy and reporting concerns immediately.
To maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and safe lone-working practice, including following procedures when working alone in the community or in placements.
6. Resources & General Duties
To ensure accommodation spaces remain safe, clean, and suitable for young people, and that resources are used responsibly.
To carry out any reasonable duties delegated by senior management, aligned with running an effective supported accommodation service.
Essential Requirements
Minimum
1 year's experience
as a Support Worker in supported accommodation / leaving-care / young people services.
Supervisory or senior experience in a similar setting.
Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care or equivalent (or strong evidence of working at this level).
Strong safeguarding knowledge and confidence in handling risk.
Ability to lead shifts, support staff, and manage difficult situations calmly.
Willingness to travel across placements and work lone shifts when needed.
