MAIN DUTIES
Prepare sub-contractor/supplier enquiry lists and full enquiry packs, ensuring compliant tender documentation, analysing returned bids, and negotiating to secure best value.
Create tender comparison sheets and make recommendations for sub-contract orders.
Collaborate with Design & Technical to tender utilities cost-effectively and support groundwork, roads, and sewers tendering through surveyor oversight.
Compile build cost breakdowns, including infrastructure, for New Site Start Appraisals (NSSA).
Ensure sub-contractors are SMAS-certified and up to date.
Conduct drawing take-offs, develop labour-only rates with the Commercial and Construction teams, and manage related databases.
Coordinate with Design & Technical and Construction to procure cost-effective, suitable materials on schedule.
Prepare Material Schedules to meet production targets.
Maintain and distribute SWMP and Carriers Matrix, updating licence details as needed.
Register sites for Hazardous Waste Premise Codes and CLAIR, coordinating with relevant departments.
Process and analyse sub-contractor applications for payment, prepare interim payments, update payment records, handle variations/contra charges, and settle final accounts.
Price client extras, update costings in Viability Manager, and ensure accuracy in collaboration with relevant departments.
Complete monthly site progress checklists, valuations, CVRs, and CTCs; attend valuation meetings.
Liaise with Housing Associations, including invoicing and H&S packs, and attend site meetings.
Support Code for Sustainable Homes compliance by producing specifications and backup data.
Conduct land viability analysis with input from key departments.
Produce Group Rebate Forms and assist in maintaining the regional cost database.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES
Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
Experience of building construction in a quantity surveying role.
A degree in Quantity Surveying.
Experience of building construction in a quantity surveying or project managing role.
Good negotiating skills with excellent time management skills.
Computer literate.
Ability to work to tight deadlines.
