We are looking for an experienced and driven individual to join our Sustainability and Procurement team, supporting NHS Wales in achieving its Net Zero and social value goals.



In this strategic role, you will help shape and implement sustainable procurement policies that decarbonise healthcare supply chains, embed social value, and address modern slavery. You will work closely with procurement professionals, health boards, suppliers, and national stakeholders to influence policy, drive innovation, and promote best practice across the system.



As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in delivering NHS Wales' Net Zero ambition and broader sustainability objectives. Your work will directly contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Wales through ethical and sustainable supply chains.



We're seeking someone with a proven track record of leading change in large organisations, with expertise in sustainability, procurement, and stakeholder engagement. Strong communication skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships are essential.

Are you passionate about sustainability and ready to lead transformative change in healthcare procurement? NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP) is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to take on the role of Senior Sustainable Procurement and Net Zero Manager.



This strategic leadership role sits at the heart of NHS Wales' commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions and embedding social value across its supply chains. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering sustainable procurement policy, supporting health boards and national partners to meet Welsh Government targets and the ambitions of the Well-being of Future Generations Act.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and implementation of sustainable procurement strategies across NHS Wales.

Drive delivery of Net Zero goals and support the decarbonisation of healthcare supply chains.

Engage with internal stakeholders, suppliers, framework providers, and trade bodies to promote ethical sourcing, carbon reduction, and the eradication of modern slavery.

Provide expert advice on sustainability policy, carbon footprinting, and integrating social value into procurement processes.

Represent NWSSP in national forums and working groups, influencing policy and sharing best practice.

Responsible for day-to-day work assigned to Project team whilst on allocated projects within the Sustainable Procurement and Net Zero Supply Chain team. As a Senior Sustainable Procurement and Net Zero Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the NHS on sustainable procurement and decarbonising the NHS Wales supply chain. The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service. The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
