THE OPPORTUNITY

The diagnostics platform remains the key part of JLR\'s digital platform to enable support of legacy ECU and its transformation to next generation vehicle electrical architecture. Using current and future industry platform standards as a reference, the diagnostic standards team member will be responsible defining the OEM specific use cases by liaising with business stakeholders and work with squads of specialists to generate system architecture design, detailed technical requirements and standards which are applicable to the diagnostic systems, s/w components and associated tooling.

You will be working with other product teams, group product owners within Digital Platform to define the next generation diagnostics platform strategies. Define the product vision, mission and determine the value delivery to the business by prioritising the list of features.

You will also collaborate with internal and external development teams to identify the optimal ECU diagnostics architecture and design to satisfy the needs of engineering, manufacturing, aftersales diagnostic users. You\'ll be responsible for the definition and successful sign-off and uptake of diagnostics standards for both new and current model year programme actions from concept through to launch.

Standards and specifications are only one part of implementing new strategies, in addition you will play a key role in the definition of business processes, ways of working and wider system changes to support the introduction of innovative new approaches to diagnostics. You will ensure that the OEM platform diagnostics requirements and all the associated diagnostics industry standards are well understood and the correct design and operation of diagnostic platform on JLR vehicles are instated.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Define and Own the Diagnostics Communication Requirements (UDS on DOIP and UDS on CAN etc.)
  • Work with ECU Software team to support development of low-level software aligned to network/vehicle architecture needs.
  • Define performance requirements to ensure robust diagnostics communication.
  • Define technical specification specifications and design rules for diagnostics communication between tester and ECU and for remote diagnostics scenarios.
  • Collaborate with cross functional team to get diagnostics systems delivered to the business.
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED

It is essential that you have significant knowledge & practical experience on Vehicle Diagnostics architecture and communications including Software update strategies, fault monitoring and reporting.

Essential:
  • Knowledge of In-Vehicle, Automotive Communication Protocols CAN, DOIP. Etc
  • Experience working with standardized diagnostic protocol UDS (ISO 14229) and Services of UDSonIP
  • Experience working with Wireshark logs and Virtual LAN (VLAN)
  • Experience working with industry standard tools e.g CANoe around Diagnostics Communication use cases
  • Knowledge of legislative diagnostics will be plus
  • Have a good understanding of DoIP communication in the scenarios like Diagnostic tester communicates with vehicle via Gateway ECU, Connection between multiple vehicles and a tester tool and connection between one vehicle and multiple test devices.
  • System Engineering principles & approach Know-how
  • Exposure to Onboard development of DoIP software stack, and security use cases (TCP/IP protocols like SSL (Secure Socket Layer), TLS (Transport Layer Security), and IP Security) will be plus
  • Good understanding of EE architecture and Autosar
  • Good verbal and written communication Skills
Desirable:
  • Experience delivering of software using agile engineering methods and processes.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and software
